If he’s certain he’ll get a pardon then I guess the trial is a freeroll, but boy I wouldn’t trust Trump to hold up his end of a bargain with life in prison in on the line.

As it stands the judge has dismissed all his pre-trial motions and the prosecution is preparing immunity deals for five witnesses. The experts seem to think he’s dead to rights.

I mean yeah, I assume along with all of you that a pardon is part of his gambit, but the legal bills have to be hurting him if the reports on his shaky financial situation are true. Does he think that he gets a refund if he gets pardoned?

Another possibility is that he’s terrified Putin will poison his family if he talks, but that feels like something out of a movie.

And it’s not like pleading guilty changes anything with respect to a pardon.

supposedly the delay was because manafort is broke. they claimed his accountant wouldn't release his own books back to him because that accountant said he never got paid so manny's lawyers had planned on just getting them through discovery during the trial

IANAL, but I'm pretty sure that's not how this is supposed to work.

$21k for a watch. Dude has to be going through a rough transition from mega-baller to federal prisoner.

If that Atlantic piece from a while back is any indication, he was a non-gambling degen who spent it as fast as he made it

Yeah, seemed like he understood all his income was illegal and just wanted to ball out until the ride came to an end.

Why the hell isn't this guy taking a plea deal?
07-31-2018 , 03:24 PM
He doesn't want to "fall" onto any bullets perhaps?

Or the fix is in.

From the link Screamin posted.

""This is the way that they required it to be done," Zehnle said, explaining why oligarchs paid Manafort through secret foreign accounts. Prosecutors said Tuesday that Manafort hid 30 foreign bank accounts from US authorities. "

This reads as an actual joke, the way the onion would type up a summary of a defense attorney's opening statement. it's fascinating to me that it's the way the defense is going.

It was Rick Gates, y'all.

Good enough for me!
