Good cider is a different thing entirely. I think we can safely make up that he was drinking some mass produced stuff not worthy of the name

If he had drunk something like a pear cider that’s made from 100% pears then he would have been fine.

Now and then I drink Thistly Cross Whisky Cask Cider. That's the good stuff.

Plus I bet Canadian Cider is really ***ing awful. That JP chose to drink it is surely enough to damn him even if he then slept like a baby
Earlier this year I looked for polls about the Canadian healthcare system. The lowest approval rate I found was 86%.

I did an undergrad degree in cognitive science, took some psyc classes, and worked in three psyc labs (language processing using ERP; work with brain-damaged subjects for an MD/PhD, and various random studies using fMRI). Also took some classes in the history of psyc. The focus of this work was mainly things like mental representation, neural networks, and similar low-level "cognitive" stuff. I don't think I ever heard "personality" discussed in my years of doing psyc. Granted, I realize it's a big field and there's a clinical side of it, but the folks I was around didn't have much truck with things like "personality." Those that weren't doing cognitive neuroscience or computer modeling were more concerned with whether "beliefs" and "emotions" actually had a neurological corollary or were fairly elaborate human constructs that could not be cashed out scientifically.

Again, Max, cannot stress enough how strong a move to burnish your center-left credentials it is to cape up for Jordan ****ing Peterson.

Fly doesn’t do nuance. That requires far more intellect than he can muster. People are either 100% evil or 100% pure in his world. It’s literally impossible, in his world, to be correct about one thing and incorrect about another. Being incorrect about anything (according to his standard) makes one incorrect about everything.

Inb4 fly says I’m white knighting for Peterson even though this post is 100% about what a pathetically weak mind fly has and doesn’t mention Peterson at all.

You get a chance to read that ****ing quote, Clovis?

I concede that I'm dumb as all hell, but I know how to ****ing read, and I know how to ****ing answer a question. You don't! You're functionally illiterate! Like you might have wanted to check on whether I clowned you into ****ing oblivion in this exact ****ing thread by asking you incredibly basic questions before you tried to spike the football on my lack of intellect. If I'm dumb, what the **** does that say about you?

Also you absolutely are white knighting for Peterson lol Jesus Christ pick your ****ing spots a little better. Just like with Murray and Harris, you have to know that I know what I'm talking about. And, more importantly, just like with Murray and Harris, you have you know that YOU DON'T. This thing where you just gamble that I'm probably wrong because you hate me has a real bad track record!

Stupid people are so easy to predict.

Yesterday I found out that a guy I work with is a Jordan Peterson supporter. As in, one of those financial sponsors who gets 1 on 1 chats on the phone and ****. I was pretty amused.

FYP

While technically true, you are a million times more likely to be taken seriously if you don't type like a 5 year old

I remember seeing a clip of JP talking about the innate sense of fairness and how in pairs of rats, when they play fight, if the bigger one doesn't let the smaller one win enough (a fifth or more of the time, I think) then the smaller one will stop playing forever. And I remember thinking what a cool little factoid that was, and how it explained what I saw when I used to keep pet rats.

Now that I've paid JP a compliment for knowing a few cool psychology tidbits, am I nuanced enough to call him a ****ing idiot?

This is so clearly right I guess people with poor spelling/grammar argue the toss because they're embarrassed.

I've never heard of Jordan Peterson ever selling 1 on 1 phone chats. Anyway you were amused your co-worker is seeking help from the most popular psychologist in the world right now? It's not like he's joining the Ron Paul book club or something.
07-10-2018 , 11:16 AM
It's pretty much exactly like that.

But that’s the point. You think it’s white knighting to say “well a Harvard assistant professor should prob be considered an expert in something given you need a solid publication record and rep to get that job”. You admit you’re dumb but it’s not just that. It’s the my team or not my team tribal mentality often found in dumb people.

Yes, a Harvard professor should get the presumption of being an expert in their field, but we can also see what they have to say.

Jesus Christ I'd be the smartest person who had ever worked for your company tomorrow if we switched jobs, this **** where you people gleefully seize on any bit of sarcasm or self-depreciating or measured caveating as an admission of defeat is so ****ing stupid.

Also, for ****'s sake, I'm WARNING you. I'm trying as hard as I can to tell you that you're letting your dislike of the Left lead you down a very embarrassing path, and you're just champing at the bit to go down the road of "the guy who literally could not follow the plot of Frozen should be described more respectfully online" because someone who you disliked(me) signaled that Peterson was not part of my tribe.

Yes, for example, I predicted that you were entirely unaware of what Sam Harris had to say about whether Charles Murray is a racist and why Harris had Murray on his podcast, and I was right on both of those. Absolutely no ****ing idea!
