The dark web intellectual's comment: Tweet in pic.
The former high school friend / fanboi response, which was better than expected:
"After reading and re-reading his post it is obvious as to what triggered you and I can understand what came across to you as a possible race issue.
I don’t think Stefan tries to be politically correct so he just comes out and says **** that he feels. This is his and his families interpretation of their history so I’ll let you take up your grievance with him.
Honestly, if you can get past the initial shell shock “that a white man spoke about Africa on the internet” I think you could probably begin to understand what he is really trying to say here.
I feel I don’t jump to negative conclusions as easily as you do so his comment doesn’t bother me the way they bother you. Unfortunately you’ve allowed yourself to be to easily effected by others. Especially people you’ll never meet, like people on the internet.
To conclude, final take away: Stefan seems to find it ironic that the account of his families history and suffrage has come full circle. He feels the country that originally outcasted them and forced them into suffrage, which enabled them to grow and become stronger, is now saying that they have a privilege: which would be ironic. That’s all I can muster up Joe. Who knows but more importantly, who cares
