Yeah, and [Phil]'s post specifically said "movements such as", so I wasn't even really calling out Goofy. Just wanted to nit a little, I guess, as it was possible to read Goofy's post a different way.

Lets not let facts or common sense get in the way of a Glenn Beck episode now.

Fair. I was referring to the Velvet Revolution - I forget the 4th, but the other 3 Beck mentioned were the Rose, Velvet, and Orange.

Have you ever watched her show? She has democrats on everyday and 95% of the time they have civil often lighthearted discussions. I don't think I have ever heard anyone call Megan Kelly an uberbitch? She got into it with some other woman once over healthcare or something and now they joke about it.

You people are so blinded by your biases.

The only thing CNN wants to talk about right now is Natalie Holloway.

Beck going after Steward and Colboring today

Quote:
“What better way to keep people sheep than making sure, and I’m part of this, making sure people get their news from a comedian? I mean, at least I’m giving it in context. I’m trying to make the news entertaining to bring people in, but Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, that’s not news. That’s a monologue. It’s jokes.”

All I saw in that quote was Glenn Beck admitting he's turning people into sheep

Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

That is amazing.

Some of the comments where they didnt realise what the Onion was so just dogpile the Pres for it are funny, the funnier ones are those that actually try and defend Fox:

Quote:
This is ridiculous of Fox News. Now we know who is professional about reporting the news. This article belongs in the Onion; leave it there and don't post it on your so-called legitimate news website.
leading to the nested reply:
Quote:
They're linking to a satire piece, which they're entitled to do. CNN and MSNBC do the same thing in their entertainment and news sections when they find an appropriate article.

Try again.

yes, but the nature of the internet means someone, somewhere, has archived a copy. I mean its an easy out, just use the Michelle Bachmann defense, "Its an urban legend, I never said that" but we have the tape, "nope, I never said that"

I've started a new gambling game in my household. How many minutes into Stewards show before he says a profanity and it is bleeped out. So edgy Jon!

Stewart does a serious interview. He asks a prepared question. The answer is given and is not at all what Stewart expected. Not being able to think on his feet, Stewart does his Jerry Lewis imitation. The sad thing is, people are getting their ideas from this limited intellect.

Re: Official MSNBC/Fox/CNN/cable news containment thread

So you want his show to turn to what, a Charlie Rose style. Might as well move from COMEDY CENTRAL to PBS then. Or maybe a Foxnews program, where instead of waiting for a response, just go ahead and answer your own question, then tell the guest that's their real position.

This whole real journalist angle is to be expected from the Palin style thinkers, it fits with the disingenuous nature of the thought process.

My God man! You mean a comedian started telling jokes?! Oh, the humanity.

Would you please cite a specific interview where this happens? I could use a laugh.

Re: Official MSNBC/Fox/CNN/cable news containment thread

Typical

Al Sharpton Plans To Meet With FCC To Regulate Rush Limbaugh’s ‘Racist Talk’

Quote:
We have a series of meetings going on, and we’re going to see the FCC next week. We’re not going to stand by and allow publicly regulated radio and television just go for marketing and promoting this kind of racism. Here’s a man who calls the president names, plays a record calling him the good negro that has the formal majority whip sore soon-to-be Jim Clayburn as “Driving Miss Nancy” trying to play off Driving Miss Daisy.
Rush Limbaugh has the right to see whatever he wants to say. He can’t do it on publicly regulated air waves. The FCC has the responsibility to set standards to say the public cannot be offended based on their race or gender in this country, and you federally regulated air waves that they give licenses to that are very competitive and the FCC? Is very selective based on standards.
lol wtf

FCC Commissioner from last week

Quote:
FCC commissioner Michael Copps appeared on BBC World News America last night, and he had some harsh things to say about television news.

In the interview with BBC Washington correspondent Katty Kay, Copps argues that the current state of discussion could be harmful to democracy:

“It’s a pretty serious situation that we’re in. I think American media has a bad case of substance abuse right now. We are not producing the body of news and information that democracy needs to conduct its civic dialogue, we’re not producing as much news as we did five years, 10 years, 15 years ago and we have to reverse that trend or I think we are going to be pretty close to denying our citizens the essential news and information that they need to have in order to make intelligent decisions about the future direction of their country.”

If you can't beat them take them off the air

His kind of humor is not for me but many do like it. It is his limited intellect, lack of information, poor preparation that is annoying. Then when he tries to cover this up in the middle of an interview with "funny" voices and waving of the arms in Jerry Lewis style, awful.

only a partisan ideologue would claim he has limited intellect, lack of information and poor prep. I would be willing to bet he's better read and informed on the news then most people in this forum. Furthermore their research is very thorough.

The first time you went wrong here is when you thought JS did a serious interview. Unless he just got a show on an actual news channel he didnt.

The second time you went wrong is you thought he isnt able to think on his feet. Instead he is a comedian and told a joke.

Finally, you went wrong when you thought people are getting ideas from him because polls just dont back this up given it is a 22 minute comedy program on 4 times a week and its viewers destroy the so called real news viewers on knowledge.

Oh and then you ad hom'ed him.
