I think I understand you now. The Foxnews programs aren't news, or commentary, or even opinion shows, they are political satire. That explains alot, thank you, thank you very much for the realization of my misunderstanding of their purpose on cable.

What do you guise think of RT?

Obviously it's political propaganda, but c'mon, aren't they all?

Bill O had a good appearance on the Daily Show last night, it was actually a very civil and somewhat entertaining interview. Its great to see him actually engage with Jon instead just blasting away at talking points. Segments like this make always remind me that he's probably a reasonably smart guy who's mostly putting on an act during his show to pander to his fans. Unfortunately the fact that he intentionally lowers the quality of discourse for ratings is probably even more sad than if he actually was 100% behind everything he says on his show.

Its always best to wait until he's had his body language lady give the real verdict on his appearances. . On his show yesterday, she blasted him on his, The View, segment.

I haven't seen the extended yet, can't access that link from here.

Lawrence O'donnell's rewrite on Sarah Palin vs. Fox News.

That woman is an idiot

I think we should also put things mostly ignored by MSM here, I'll start:

Argentina says Monsanto contractor abuses workers
Quote:
Argentina's tax agency has raided a Monsanto Co. contractor and found what it calls slave-like conditions among workers in its cornfields.

The AFIP tax agency says Rural Power SA hired all its farmhands illegally, prevented them from leaving the fields and withheld their salaries. They had to de-tassel corn 14 hours a day and buy their food at inflated prices from the company store.

AFIP says it will hold the American agro-giant responsible for its contractor's slave-like labor conditions.

Monsanto didn't immediately respond to calls Monday to its headquarters in Buenos Aires and in St. Louis, which was closed for the Martin Luther King holiday.
Quote:
Argentina's congress last month gave farmhands an 8-hour day and other benefits long denied under a dictatorship-era law.
looks like the commies took over, crushing the workers ability to maximize their labor profits.

Blatant racism and bigotry by Politico's Jonathan Martin the other day on MSNBC as he describes Florida's "cracker counties".

Nice try.

From the article you quoted:
Quote:
"Cracker" has also been used as a proud or jocular self-description. With the huge influx of new residents from the North, "cracker" is used informally by some white residents of Florida and Georgia ("Florida cracker" or "Georgia cracker") to indicate that their family has lived there for many generations.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_cracker
Quote:
The term "cracker" was in use during the Elizabethan era to describe braggarts. The original root of this is the Middle English word crack meaning "entertaining conversation" (One may be said to "crack" a joke); this term and the Gaelicized spelling "craic" are still in use in Northern England, Ireland and Scotland. It is documented in William Shakespeare's King John (1595): "What cracker is this ... that deafes our ears / With this abundance of superfluous breath?"

By the 1760s the English, both at home and in the American colonies, applied the term “cracker” to Scots-Irish and English American settlers of the remote southern back country, as noted in a passage from a letter to the Earl of Dartmouth: "I should explain to your Lordship what is meant by Crackers; a name they have got from being great boasters; they are a lawless set of rascalls on the frontiers of Virginia, Maryland, the Carolinas, and Georgia, who often change their places of abode." The word was later associated with the cowboys of Georgia and Florida, many of them descendants of those early frontiersmen.

The term "cracker" in Florida usage relates to the whip that cowboys used to "crack" cattle out of the swamps and scrub.

Blacks use the N word among themselves as a form of commradery. If Sean Hannity talked about n****r counties I doubt you would be talking about the positive aspects of the word. The guy said these cracker counties more resemble Georgia and Alabama than they do the rest of Florida. He is not describing native floridians who are proud of their heritage. He is directly insulting the poor, rural whites of the south.

Good start to your politics posting career Jim.

Wait till the end where they edit in applause for John Bolton when he actually got booed.

I am a resident of one of these "cracker counties" and I can assure you that Jim is correct here. That comment would be considered extremely offensive by some.

I would love to see/hear the original.

another reason I find Stossel and Napolitano for his part, to be useless as commentators on society. Both like to preach they are non partisan investigators of issues, but they have creative control over their shows.

CNN and FoxNews websites are really a joke. Almost all their stories and headlines are about celebrities or sex related or anything else straight out of idiocracy.

Today on CNN the lead story with the biggest headline is about the Oscars and over to the side, with a much smaller headline the Ohio school shootings.

Fox is even worse, CNN headlines like 75% trash and trolling, Fox about 90%. I don't ever check MSNBC because hey they're MSNBC.
02-27-2012 , 08:06 PM
Check out BBC's U.S. coverage page imo.
02-27-2012 , 08:13 PM
CNN is 90% celebrity gossip and fluff these days. I don't even think of them as being on the left/right spectrum anymore.

Wasn't aware of that. I do hope though that the next cnn president will bring some "fresh thinking". Years ago I used to watch cnn a lot to get an international perspective and improve my english, now it just bores me. Seems to me pretty much all they air is natural disasters, mass shootings and **** like that if given half the chance.

I'd love if they come up with some serious daily show type shows. Basicly call out bs from politicians, fox news and msnbc.

The reason I bumped this thread is stossel though. The guy tilts me so much that I was hoping to find somekind of stossel hatred in a thread I could chime in on and figured this thread could be good for that purpose.
