TBH, I haven't read or watched the context of Halperin's comments, but my impression (from the blogosphere) was that Obama was simply engaged in very standard, rhetoric that each side engages on continuously.

Republicans like to whine about getting their feelings hurt, though, there was some stuff among the Village of the Very Serious People was that by implying that he wouldn't concede to all of Boehner's demands that he wasn't sufficiently Very Serious about The Deficit. Read some of the shriller parts of the blogosphere.

Because it's an unfair comparison. A dick actually produces something once in a while.

Interesting read on the young Robert Ailes and the early seeds of Fox News.

Roger Ailes’ Secret Nixon-Era Blueprint for Fox News

Quote:
Republican media strategist Roger Ailes launched Fox News Channel in 1996, ostensibly as a "fair and balanced" counterpoint to what he regarded as the liberal establishment media. But according to a remarkable document buried deep within the Richard Nixon Presidential Library, the intellectual forerunner for Fox News was a nakedly partisan 1970 plot by Ailes and other Nixon aides to circumvent the "prejudices of network news" and deliver "pro-administration" stories to heartland television viewers.
Original rough draft document for putting the GOP in the news.

All the original documents here.

Fair and balanced indeed. I gotta admit, it is fairly entertaining fictional programming.

Yeah this way he can "guest host" and "guest panel" every show on the network.

As an aside I watched his show for the RP interview the other day and found it difficult to resist committing suicide.

If that was a universal reaction Fox News could probably fix medicare.

lol @ CNN reporting Halperin used a 'slur' to reference Obama.

obv people are going to assume the N-word, when it was nowhere near that in terms of offensiveness.

why are they still talking about this? i'm sure most of the CNN audience is pretty clueless as to who this guy is in the first place.

News Corp hacks into the cell phone of a 13yo murder victim, deletes some messages that might hinder the police investigation.

Quote:
LONDON -- Britain's voracious tabloids may have hit a new low: The News of the World was facing claims Tuesday that it hacked into a missing 13-year-old's phone messages, possibly hampering a police inquiry into her abduction and murder.
Quote:
But while police were pursuing all leads and Milly's parents were making dramatic appeals for any tidbit of information that could be useful, a private investigator working for the News of the World tabloid allegedly hacked into her cell phone, listened to her messages, and even deleted some to make room for possible new ones.

Mark Lewis, a lawyer representing Dowler's parents, said Tuesday the suspected hacking may have hampered the police investigation and he plans to sue the tabloid for its interference.

It was never determined how long Dowler was alive after being abducted but the tabloid's actions reportedly came right after her disappearance. Police realized some messages had been deleted, giving them and Milly's parents false hope that she was still alive.

NOTW were in trouble before, but interfering in a police investigation into a missing child is really gonna harm them in a similar way that The Sun cant sell a newspaper in Liverpool due to their coverage of the hillsborough disaster, only nationwide.

CNN cancels Elliot Spitzer's show

Maybe they'll offer the time slot to Anthony Weiner?
