yes it was I meant to state Alberta will be next to elect a right win nut who Albertans believe will bring back $100 oil and not cut their services and eliminate the deficit.

Sadly Albertan's need:
  • 5% minimum sales tax
  • Bring Back AHC payments
  • Stop funding Catholic and private schools
  • Refine your own oil like you were told 10 years ago as sadly your never getting a pipeline

That's 25 stores for 14 million people across about 60,000 sq miles, not counting all the uninhabited bits up north
It's been like two months. Get back to us in four years or so.

Also, haven't we learned that sales taxes are regressive? Why not just raise income taxes if more money is needed?

Following in the footsteps of the French protests, Canada now has our own yellow vest protesters. Slight difference is ours are right-wingers protesting against carbon taxes and immigration. https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...-gilets-jaunes

The president of Ontario's Chamber of Commerce, Rocco Rossi, has apologized for a New Year's Eve tweet featuring a bottle of Veuve champagne and caviar, boasting that he was celebrating the "1-percenter way," with the message "Let them eat cake." Rossi's tweet came just as now-scrapped hike in minimum wage was set to kick in.

I’m struggling to figure out what that tweet could possibly have been satirizing.
01-05-2019 , 10:55 AM
I don't think there's any more to it than the guy in charge of lobbying for businesses and against worker's right in Ontario showing off how rich he is and saying **** the poor.
01-05-2019 , 11:45 AM
Oh, there’s no doubt about that. Just noting that his “explanation” is complete BS too.
01-05-2019 , 03:35 PM
oh lol @ me. I couldn't figure out how you thought that could be satirical, but turns out I never bothered to finish reading the first line of his tweet.

Anyway, more on these folks, who will be electing their version of Trump/Ford soon.

“This is a blatant attack on our national sovereignty and our individual freedoms as a nation state,” a speaker bellows to an excitable crowd at the Alberta Legislature grounds.

We fought for that in two world wars and we’re just going to hand it over to a (foreign) body? I’m totally for immigration; we need immigration in Canada … but we want it done properly,” Doan told StarMetro. “We don’t want to just open our borders wide because we’re not even a country then.”

The Yellow Vest Canada Facebook page, which has more than 100,000 members, is particularly toxic, said Canadian Anti-Hate Network director Evan Balgord, a researcher who has been tracking the yellow vest movement nationwide.

“If you go through it at any given moment, you’re going to find anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, you’re going to find death threats, you’re going to find other calls to violence, racism directed to Muslims — and it doesn’t take very long,” Balgord said. “I found my first death threat in five minutes.”

Within five minutes of browsing the page, StarMetro found comments about Nostradamus predicting a race war, conspiracy theories about how the Rothschild family of bankers rule the world and one commentator saying they hope a plane carrying the prime minister would crash.

Luckily Canada’s deferral right wing is going to split between deplorable and those who claim to be ‘fiscally conservative, socially liberal’. Should ensure that Trudeau stays in power for however long he wants.
01-05-2019 , 08:52 PM
it gets real corrupt real quickly when liberals take power for granted
01-05-2019 , 11:36 PM
An awful lot of hate for Trudeau out west cause of the pipeline

Yeah here in Alberta its big. Though if he had not bought the pipeline would the possibility of a pipeline be still alive?
I am more upset about bill C16 and C69. I voted for him but overall think he has done a terrible job but vote for Harper's son Andrew???

Even if the pipeline gets approved BC gonna be back in court
01-06-2019 , 02:49 PM
Trudeau is terrible as expected (took him how many days to abandon his big campaign promise on electoral reform) and NDP is a complete ****show.
01-06-2019 , 03:18 PM
Least he followed up on that weed promise; I'm still waiting to see what type of beer I can buy for $1.
01-06-2019 , 03:33 PM
Yeah, options are pretty terrible. Liberals are the best of a bad lot as it stands now. I’d vote Green if I thought they could get any kind of traction (I may regardless).
01-06-2019 , 03:33 PM
Brook, Better not wait too much longer. Two of the three who were offering it aren't any more

01-06-2019 , 03:44 PM
Crap... time to return empties! That's going to taste like ass - will report back later in the week

Don't know why Trudeau bought pipeline...never was winning Alberta and this only goes to piss off people in BC

Yeah that one baffled me also. If he gets the Pipeline approved he may get municipal votes but not rural.

Though you do realize Canada is a resource based economy. Look at BC the natives are trying to block that LNG pipeline even though their tribes council approved it

What's up with that eh? You'd think all the natives would fall in line behind the council.

Is the $1 beer thing on singles, or any beer? i.e. is the minimum price of a Bud Light 30-pack $30?
