Louis, the preferred term is "old stock Canadians," but I guess when there's already a great group out there like PEGIDA, you don't want to pass up a chance to be associated with them.

What do you mean "they." Don't pretend you're not one of us.
In the 60s, the Royal Canadian Navy, Royal Canadian Air Force and Canadian Army were merged into a single entity called the Canadian Armed Forces, but Harper, our most recent Conservative prime minister, undid this horrible slight to the monarchy and restored the names so we could once again be a Royal navy and air force. God Bless the Queen (I think she is the official head of state and the Gov Gen is just her representative in the colony of Canada, but I'm really not that up on my royal protocols).
ETA, according to google (I couldn't have told you the name of our GG until now, though it sounds familiar: Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief in and over Canada. Damn she was an astronaut with two space flights.):
Quote:
The Governor General of Canada is the federal viceregal representative of the Canadian monarch, currently Queen Elizabeth II. The person of the sovereign is shared equally both with the 15 other Commonwealth realms and the 10 provinces of Canada, but resides predominantly in her oldest and most populous realm, the United Kingdom. The Queen, on the advice of her Canadian prime minister, appoints a governor general to carry out most of her constitutional and ceremonial duties. The commission is for an unfixed period of time—known as serving at Her Majesty's pleasure—though five years is the normal convention. Once in office, the governor general maintains direct contact with the Queen, wherever she may be at the time.
Meghan Markle, who may someday be my Queen if a few of her in-laws die, used to live about 5 minutes from me and I would often pass by her house on the way to get groceries (though I didn't know she lived there until she was moving to Buckingham Palace or w/e and the house went on the market). I think by the transitive property that makes me Royalty too.
