If we're fully rejecting inspection of heart-of-hearts when handing out racism claims, I gotta admit that Libertarian defenses involving foreign policy / isolationism is a pretty legit point in their favor. Considering how often GOP / Dems vote in favor of drone strikes and bombs being dropped on poor developing nations, think we gotta acknowledge Libertarian rejection of said practice as a point in their non-racist favor.

NOTE: 0.0% of their rejection of bombing campaigns in 3rd world countries has anything to do with race, but if we're rejecting heart-of-hearts it's irrelevant.

I guess, but not murdering and guantanamoing people is a pretty low bar. It says more against the Dems than for any Libertarians. And IRL I know libertarians who are really anti-war, but I wouldn't expect a typical L party candidate to really be any more anti-interventionist than Trump who gave that lip service as well.

I assume Counter-Strike is H2H? Seems like valve is morally obligated to email everyone who played him and let them know whether they killed Bin-Laden or not.

InfoWars going hard in the paint on the 'Hitler is still alive (???)' conspiracy, just dropping it into there among other conspiracies like it's no big deal. These guys are elite:

So much news and the news is so big and the news is so frequent that the biggest news every day becomes a back-page story the next day. The Las Vegas massacre cover-up, nothing. The JFK files being declassified, Hitler still alive.

The subject of climate change offers a crystalline example here. If climate science does its thing, checks and rechecks its work, and then the Republican Party simply refuses to accept it ... what then?

That’s what US elites are truly afraid to confront: What if facts and persuasion just don’t matter anymore?

As long as conservatives can do something — steal an election, gerrymander crazy districts to maximize GOP advantage, use the filibuster as a routine tool of opposition, launch congressional investigations as political attacks, hold the debt ceiling hostage, repress voting among minorities, withhold a confirmation vote on a Supreme Court nominee, defend a known fraud and sexual predator who has likely colluded with a foreign government to gain the presidency — they will do it, knowing they’ll be backed by a relentlessly on-message media apparatus.

And if that’s true, if the very preconditions of science and journalism as commonly understood have been eroded, then all that’s left is a raw contest of power.

Quote:
The most influential figures in conservative media today cannot be shamed out of hypocrisy, because they are, at best, completely indifferent to those notions. In some cases, they’re outright hostile to them. When the assumption of deep-seated good faith doesn’t hold, the value of scrutinizing hypocrisy plummets.

Hannity and Tucker Carlson may be dull-witted, but they are surely self-aware enough to understand that they use their platforms on Fox News for purely instrumental ends. Trump’s enablers have taken an interest in the stomach-churning revelations about Harvey Weinstein not because they’re committed foes of workplace sexual misconduct or gender inequality, but because they want to neutralize one of Trump’s biggest liabilities (that he is an admitted sex offender) and undermine the credibility of the mainstream media in the process.

And the latter is the ultimate prize.

Money and ratings are motives, as well, of course, and for some Trump apologists, the collateral damage to competing institutions is just an ancillary benefit of cashing in. But media figures more closely associated with the alt-right are fully conscious of and motivated by larger ideological goals.

...

When Bannon addressed the turgid Aristocrats joke that is the annual Values Voters Summit this past weekend, he trashed Republican senator Bob Corker for speaking out about Trump’s unfitness for office, claiming risibly that Corker was the first senator in U.S. history to mock a sitting president while troops are serving abroad.

The hypocrisy hounds descended. CNN’s Jake Tapper rightly noted that Bannon’s own website routinely celebrated mockery of Barack Obama while he was president. But Tapper ended his corrective with the admonition that “feelings aren’t facts”—as if Bannon had simply gotten carried away. Not likely. It is useful to Bannon’s ambitions to convince Trump’s supporters that criticizing the president is tantamount to sedition, history and consistency and democratic values be damned. He knows exactly what he’s doing. To a greater or lesser extent, so do the rest of them. And the longer that takes to sink in—the longer it takes us to develop new norms for addressing demonstrable bad faith—the likelier it becomes that this tide of propaganda will swamp us.

Speaking of climate change, there's more CO2 in the air than anytime in recorded history and the increase from 2015 to 2016 was the largest on record. Furthermore, the Colorado River's flow is decreasing due to warmer temperatures sucking water into the atmosphere.

Quote:
The amount that has evaporated is equal to approximately 24 percent of the total amount of California’s annual Colorado River allocation.

I still don't agree with food stamps for Red Bull and no I don't think it's technologically unpossible to filter out foods with zero nutritional value and serious negative health consequences - especially when we pay for those health consequences as well. Don't want to argue about though.
