Given his dad's history, I'm pretty sure he knows exactly what the **** jail is.

You know how every criticism Trump makes of someone else is actually most applicable to himself? Apparently that also works with Sam Harris.

Sam is more willing to correct himself and has done so in the past as opposed to stubbornly sticking to a poor argument or inaccurate statement.

But yeah when people view you as an intellectual, it's hard to not let that build up your ego.

Eh, he's not wrong. I started to read Black Swan knowing absolutely nothing about Naseem's reputation, and I couldn't even get past the introduction. It's literally the most bloviating, self-aggrandizing thing I've ever read.

Something for the egos of the forum's Californians:

Frustrated foreign leaders bypass Washington in search of blue-state allies
“There is an impression by politicians here that President Trump in person is no longer the voice of the free Western world,” said Christian Ehler, a German lawmaker who heads the European Parliament’s delegation for relations with the United States and helped broker Brown’s visit to Brussels. “We are much more carefully looking now to the diversity of what is being discussed in the United States, and we see that California is one of the powerhouses of the world economically.”

If 2p2 politics got shut down (maybe admins get sick of dealing with RWers crying, or decide it's just not good for the site, or 2p2 itself dies), where would you guys migrate to continue discussing politics online?

I haven't read Black Swan, but I read Fooled by Randomness and it was the same. Most smug, egotistical writing ever. The book is also just a basic introduction to things like variance, selection bias etc, and is written in a tone suggesting that he is vouchsafing us the secret of lightning stolen from the gods or something.

Agreed. I had no trouble finishing FbR it but it did make me raise an eyebrow quite often.

I think it's a bad book for anyone who has taken poker even remotely seriously. I figure the self-celebrating is much more noticeable and annoying when you're not really learning anything new in the process.

Good question. I would probably read more blogs or something.

I've recently begun arguing with deplorable randoms on Twitter, I guess I could do that more if stepping on rusty nails isn't painful enough.

Chiefsplanet!

(honestly, would probably like spend more time with my kids or something far more productive)

Would comment more on Reddit and read more.

i'd frequently visit all this website's biggest competitors to contribute content and click on all their ads

Yup. If you read the P7 mod thread the riffraff were whining all the time early on about it being too strict with all the deletes and timeouts. And it was strict kind of with the deletes. But the timeouts made it toothless and caused people to push at the edges of the rules with no lasting consonances.

You need a hammer.

That or unchained but everyone knows where that goes.

11-19-2017 , 10:39 AM
It needs to be lightly modded. If it's heavily modded, then what would the distinction with this place be?

That being said, I'm not sure if there's a point without wil. He contributed like 90% of the deplorable content to argue with, and probably 99% of the readable deplorable content. Hell if I'm trying to read a Juan Valdez post.

Don't know where I'd post about politics if this forum was removed.
