Yeah, this basho sucks. Just sad to watch Kise at his end, handing out kinboshi to youngsters like halloween candy.

AOC's apartment-gate is really mind-blowing when you consider that, not too long ago, we were positively laughing at the idea that Scott Pruitt was able to rent a room from his lobbyist buddy or whatever for $1500 a month without anything shady being involved. Hilarious! Can you believe someone could live in DC on so little?

Anyway all this has the effect of convincing me that AOC is the only reasonable candidate in 2024. Sorry The Hill, you radicalized me.

Uber has posted a loss of more than $1bn (£780m) in its latest quarter as growth in bookings continued to slow in the run-up to its stock market flotation next year.
Quote:
The San Francisco-based ride-sharing firm, valued at $76bn, is under pressure to improve its financial performance before the IPO. It lost $1.07bn in the three months to September, a 20% increase from $891m in the previous quarter.

The firm, which has never made a profit, could target a valuation of $120bn when it lists on the New York stock market next year – three times the value of the carmaker Ford. Uber counts Japan’s SoftBank and Saudi Arabia’s royal family among its biggest investors.
Can't wait to invest in a company losing $4,000,000,000 a year! So sustainable.

just make it up in volume imo

The drivers make a **** wage, the passengers aren't happy and they don't pay taxes. Where the **** is the money going?
11-15-2018 , 10:12 AM
Gotta spend money to make money bro

My FB feed has democrats bitching about her already before she's made her first vote, pretty clear she's too progressive for them...
11-15-2018 , 10:33 AM
The funny part is most Uber drivers either don't realize the true cost of using their own car, or are deliberately borrowing against the future value of their car. Neither is sustainable.

I didn't read the article or verify this (Though I saw that another tweeter did verify it)

The author

"DR. ANNE RATHBONE BRADLEY is theVice President of Economic Initiatives at the Institute for Faith, Works, and Economics, where she develops and commissions research toward a systematic biblical theology of economic freedom."

I think the drivers are just a stopgap till self driving cars become a thing. Uber never planned to make money with human drivers, they're just building a customer base and infrastructure to print money when meatbag drivers become obsolete. The whole company is just a gamble that investors will keep giving them money until they can get rid of their drivers.
11-15-2018 , 10:45 AM
Now I read the article. Pretty gross. Hardly shocking. The absolute hit pieces on progressives are predictable. Bernie was a hypocritical out of touch fat cat because after a lifetime of a decent salary he could buy a $600k 1500sf vacation house.

They don't have a plan. They tripped over their own dicks and found a way to raise perpetual income in spite of themselves. It's the classic Silicon Valley blueprint.
11-15-2018 , 10:49 AM
sure but probably the "plan" that they've been selling to investors is similar to what I said

It's also going to hurt their model when cities ban driverless cars from driving around all the time to avoid having to park/pay for parking.

I'm looking for investors for my new ride-shape app "Taxi With a Prize Inside." Any takers?

I don't know what this means, but if you invest at least 50k I will throw in a t-shirt.

Why don't they pick a ****ing plan B? Geez, you have to run a human being for speaker so why isn't anyone stepping up to the plate?
11-15-2018 , 11:37 AM
Establishment Dems love to say Pelosi is “the most effective speaker of all time.” Uh, based on what?

The sexism claims are garbage, too. I ****ing hate Schumer for the same reasons I’m skeptical of Pelosi.
