Vijay Chokal-Ingam, brother of "The Mindy Project" actress Mindy Kaling, stirred up controversy when he revealed that he pretended to be black to get into medical school. Here, in his own words, he explains why he did it.
Not surprised someone did it. In his position, the elite play (and it's unclear that he wasn't doing this) would be to claim that he was half Indian (dad) and half Black (mom). That way even someone who identified his surname and looks as Indian would have some doubt.

The reports about my race, about my past, and about the pain I’ve endured are all lies. My mother is a senior citizen. I refuse to speak in detail about the nature of my mother’s past, or her sexual partners, and I am gravely embarrassed to even be saying this now, but I have been told for most of my life that the white man on my birth certificate is not my biological father and that my actual biological father is a light-skinned black man. My mother and I have discussed her affair. She was a young woman in a bad relationship and I have no judgment. This has been my lived reality for nearly 30 of my 35 years on earth. I am not ashamed of it, or of who I am—never that—but I was advised by my pastor nearly 20 years ago that this was not a mess of my doing and it was not my responsibility to fix it. All of my siblings and I have different parents. I'm actually not even sure how many siblings I have. It is horrifying to me that my most personal information, for the most nefarious reasons, has been forced out into the open and that my private past and pain have been used as jokes and fodder to discredit me and the greater movement for justice in America. I resent that lies have been reported as truth and that the obviously racist intentions of these attacks have been consistently downplayed at my expense and that of my family.

Andrew Breitbart would be so proud

I feel bad for that guy. Bad enough not ever knowing your Dad and growing up with everyone in town knowing you're the result of an extramarital affair. Then having it dredged up again and having to rehash it for a nationwide audience....

I'm willing to take his explanation at face value, but it seems highly likely he made it up. His story is that he never at any point knew he was black, but only assumed it, and it was only last week that his mother confided in him re: the light skinned black man. He also happens to look just like the guy who he says is not his father.

Setting that aside, guy has also had charity money to Haiti apparently disappear, and been accused of fraud/misleading promises by multiple people. He blocks people that ask about it. His occupation is "life coach" and "motivational speaker."

Putting 2 and 2 together here, he is potentially a bigger con artist than Dolezal. The fact that people take his word at face value is a little troubling, and shows how easily people are duped by lolobvious hucksters.

OK, then I feel bad for jumping to the conclusion that he was a faker without doing due diligence. Even if he is a faker, I shouldn't have simply assumed it.

Self-reflection is good.

Dude also claimed he was nearly beaten to death by 13 or 14 "rednecks" and that never happened.*

*According to linked article

Like the professor, dude might not actually "be black" genetically or whatever but goes to great lengths to appear to "be black" and the world probably generally treats him that way. So if the world treats him like a black guy, as far as i care, he's a black guy.

Goldberg is also accused of being behind a Times of Israel blog post that called Palestinians “subhuman.”

Goldberg’s trolling turned serious when he was arrested Thursday by the FBI on the grounds that he told a would-be terrorist how to build a bomb meant for a 9/11 attacks anniversary event in Kansas City, Missouri.

There's a doc on Netflix about her called The Rachel Divide, and it's pretty fascinating.

Rachel comes off as a very kind, earnest woman, and she had some severe family abuse in her past. She has three black sons and a black sister. The hatred and venom she faces is astounding.

It's an interesting topic, as this thread discussed in the past. It brings up interesting questions about race and the "trans" movement.

I know scientists are now saying that race could be a social construct - that there is no such thing as actual race in humans, that it's all based on where your ancestors lived and were born...that it's environment.

Is race just culture and different skin shades?

I don't know the answers, but I have a new found respect for Dolezal. And I really feel for her.

I don't. She fetishized and bastardized what it means to be black for her own personal gain. She even admits that her thought on black beauty was based on black women she saw in National Geographic, a magazine notorious for fetishizing black women. She became an African-American history professor and leader of a NAACP branch based on a lie. She then criticizes black people for not conforming to her perception on what it means to be black.

Don't feel too sorry for her she got busted for welfare fraud, collecting food stamps even though she wasn't poor enough to qualify.
