They already do get paid the same. Tennis grand slams are the only major sport with equal pay. Some men tennis players are coming forward saying that it's not fair that they have to play best of 5 sets in majors.

Tennis players aren't payed based on how much tennis they play. They are payed based on how much $$ they generate.

In theory a "fair" pay scale should reflect this. Whether this would cause discrepancy between wta and atp I have no clue because I don't know how they generate revenue comparably.

Most people who argue for fair pay between male and female athletes (or fair pay in general) completely miss the boat on this point.

Again, this post is completely missing the point. Hoe many games played has nothing to do with hoe much one should be payed, unless of course playing more games = more revenue.

From what I understand this is very recent and was done mainly for PC reasons. It might actually be grossly unfair to do this if men generate signicanrky more $$ than women in grand slams, which I don't know to be the case.

I think you have a very poor understanding of how capitalism and sports entertainment work.

The NBA dumps a whole bunch of $$ into the wnba because it diesnt generate any revenue itself for whatever reason. I'f whoever runs the majors decides to subsidize women's tennis so they make as much as the men that is their business, but I wouldn't tell them that is the way it should be.

As demonstrated by the voters in the UK, the citizens of French beach towns, the people in the Philipines, or the makers of EPI pen, the majority of humans are unwilling to sacrifice even a little bit of what they think is their self interest for the sake of what is right. If Clinton beats Trump it won't be because most people are empathetic to the needs of others but because plenty of the selfish think Clinton will be better for THEM.

Sounds like you don't understand capitalism too well. The WNBA seems to be marginally profitable. But, how can it possibly be unfair to male BB players if the female players get a raise? No one is making the male BB players play for peanuts in the NBA. Any one of them is free to start their own league. That's capitalism. And if the NBA "caves" into the wishes of the people who watch basketball and pay women more? That's a business decision that they are making based on expected profits, not just "whatever reasons."

After this election cycle it is pretty obvious that many people who identify themselves as democrats are just as stupid, pig headed and close minded as many people who identity themselves as republicans.

America is full of extremely stupid people who are incapable of logically solving complex issues.

I doubt the wnba is marginally profitable, although I am sure the accountants do some fuzzy reporting stuff they release to the public to pretend it is.

I am sure whatever books the NBA accountants hand to the IRS show a whole bunch of red for the WNBA part of the business and a whole lot of write offs.

That being said, I am sure the NBA believes it is in their overall best interest to operate this way. I don't pretend to know what those reasons are. The ones you are stating sound good enough.
