Made me wish we had enough free time to organize a concern troll 'brigading' of CP.

A thousand times easier: Punish racist behavior, turn out non-racist voters
I brought up brigading because that's exactly what's happening here.

I don't see it. When you said a bunch of unknown people were coming out of the woodwork to +1 alazo's olive branch approach to dealing with Trumpkins I was left scratching my head.

There are people that are not racist, that are simply conservative and not very sensitive to some issues or even somewhat wrong and prejudiced who you can win by explaining with confidence and care your side.

Instead what happens is many start the insults and effective shunning that alienates them and tilts them.

I tell you that this is bad before the election and then it happens, it easily makes the difference with only 30-40k people. And you do not want to learn.

Here is an example of a story;

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics...porter/484232/

Even if 1 in 300 people are that way you lose them by playing so hard on issues you can defend a lot better and a lot more convincingly. People are not convinced with insults. They get more tilted instead. Some republicans or centrists or uncertain voters could have been instead not voting for such questionable ethics candidate if it weren't for being tilted. Either someone doesn't vote or they change.

How hard is it to explain in detail why someone is wrong without insulting them and making it personal? I am not talking about some extreme obvious case of abusive behavior. Deal with that with stronger and even legal means. I am talking about the kind of behavior that makes people unable to talk freely on sensitive issues where the root of the problem may be indeed the inability to have proper honest discussions without hesitation.
We've tried being nice and accepting. Look where we are now.

Never heard of the term "brigading" before, but that is definitely what's been going on.

Definitely? Wat? Should we be flattered that our little politics forum is in their sights? (Whoever they are.) Which posters are you guys talking about? Quotes? I may be from Missouri but anyone involved in brigading would definitely be worth laughing at.

The story of the Great SMP Invasion is too long and weird to give a proper cliffs and I can’t remember all of the names of the racist clowns who came out of the woodwork to AIDS up politics, but Masque was for sure one of them.

All of a sudden a group of posters who haven't posted here in a long time/at all are posting and agreeing with each other in order to change the culture of the forum. It's pretty obvious that's what's going on.

Right now, they sound sensible but eventually their appeal to moderation will crack and their right-wing views will show through for everyone to see. Might be made up nice but we'll see the pig for what it is.

Ok, it's true that Masque has recently, suddenly, been putting in work here. I was here for the SMP invasion.

Sorry Masque, we have people locking children up for the crime of being the wrong person's child, even force-drugging them, and other people are cheering on the sidelines as that happens. I'm past the point of talking nice to budding Nazis.
