Also amused that on that reddit page, Nielsio has to threaten everyone it's no longer OK to promote their Patreon page. I forgot all the long-con scammy nature of the ACist movement too, ldo it's just infested with people internet busking their Kickstarters and Patreons for someone to pay them to make YooToob videos about the dangers of federal reserve and the socialist origins of the Santa Claus myth.

I assume that had to do with the broader trend of liberarianism being less cool on the internet.
whatever dude, YOUR less cool on the internet

The cynicism UToob is gone.

FWIW I'm pretty sure Cyrus came back as countless gimmicks over the years but what the **** happened to BluffTHIS!? I assume he's still here somewhere, well concealed as always.
Well, here you are, ain't ya?

Cyrus only came back like 5 or 6 times, all in rapid succession, and then he finally went away.

We need a fallen soldiers thread obv.

I just had a wander through the old ACist threads in search of the bit where I got Borodog to admit that ACism would only work in a world where everyone spontaneously decided to respect the principles of nonaggression. I didn't find that, but I did find some other amusing stuff. Wanna take a trip down memory lane, tomdemaine?

That's the reason I support private ownership of property - the consequences, not the principles.

Your past self is accusing your present self of lying about your beliefs, you should really have a word with that guy.

Cyrus consistently gave it away because he was the only poster that changed the title on posts he was responding to. Even after he moved onto gimmicks like Mickey Brauch. What a bizarre tic. I don't think he ever stopped doing it either so combined with his writing style and consistent trolling of BluffTHIS, you could insta-spot him, which BluffTHIS would pounce on to demand the moderators enforce his permaban.

The only reason I know he went away for good is that no one does that **** anymore.

I've had a few. He's a good guy. Naive, but a good guy.

ctyri owned that thread pretty hard. Also notable for ACist brains trust heavyweight Borodog apparently being literally unable to grasp the idea that it might be possible to use resources like land without making them privately owned. If anyone who wasn't around then wants to see the **** we had to put up with, starting here and reading down (about the last 10 posts of the thread) is a pretty good microcosm.

Old tomdemaine was a libertarian with empathy for people not exactly like himself - an inherently unstable situation.

before actually posting, i read a couple years worth of threads, although i quit reading many of them after 1 or 2 posts, and quickly learned which posters to not bother reading, as they'd be quoted and ridiculed later on.

the brucez/smp invasion threads from an outsider's perspective was quite a wild read. one can only imagine what it was like in real time. i never got to the ac threads.

it's nice of the old timers to reveal some of the legends of the past to the new accounts that are actually new members.

While I was at it, I reread some of the 2012 election threads. That Rove/FNC meltdown was beyond amazing in real time. One thing I'd forgotten was that mid-results coming in, when the entire west coast was yet to report, TRUMP was going ape**** on Twitter about how Obama's victory was ILLEGITIMATE and a national disgrace because he was losing the popular vote and getting bailed out by the electoral college. Obama went on to win the popular vote by 5 million votes.

Also, who remembers this?

Now hang on, it was totally true that the wall-to-wall BHENGHAZIIII coverage died way down after the Nov 2012 election was over. Never said it wouldn't return for the 2016 election.

If you want some lolTrolly, I was totally predicting Jeb! to crush the primaries back in summer 2016.

“After they shut off the power, they’ll kill the phone service,” the government official added. “Then they’ll block all the roads so that all those guys have a long, lonely winter to think about what they’ve done.”

Snowstorms are expected in the wilderness surrounding the refuge on Tuesday, which is some 30 miles from the town of Burns. At night, temperatures are forecast to plummet to -8C (18F).
Fantastic. This is exactly what people ITT were saying should happen. The phone service thing will probably especially rustle them, as it will interfere with all their facebooking and twittering.

You can't Twitter on landlines papa. Oh, maybe they have some switch for cell service extenders or something? Anyway they don't have enough Lil Smokies to make it till Monday.

On MSNBC now--an armed rancher sitting on the ground completely covered by a blue tarp. At least that's what the station is saying is under the tarp.

They clearly don't understand the caloric needs that the human body has to sustain the kind of standoff that they are attempting. Someone needed to google TDEE before this kind of stunt.

How long do you have to hold out without food in the freezing ass-cold so you don't look like too much of a pussy to your followers?

To be fair, a couple of these guys look like they've stored up enough fat that they could make it to Spring.

They could hunt the land and sleep inside horse carcasses for warmth and trade for goods and sundries with the locals like the revenant.
