Nevada Rancher Hilarity: The Tragic Death of Y'All Qaeda's Tarp Man Nevada Rancher Hilarity: The Tragic Death of Y'All Qaeda's Tarp Man

They didn't have the legal right to set fire to federal property of course but more importantly even if they did they can't just roll the **** up with matches and do it without telling anyone first and call it a controlled fire.

The fires were ten feet high and totally out of control.

Quote:
The jury convicted both of the Hammonds of using fire to destroy federal property for a 2001 arson known as the Hardie-Hammond Fire, located in the Steens Mountain Cooperative Management and Protection Area. Witnesses at trial, including a relative of the Hammonds, testified the arson occurred shortly after Steven Hammond and his hunting party illegally slaughtered several deer on BLM property. Jurors were told that Steven Hammond handed out “Strike Anywhere” matches with instructions that they be lit and dropped on the ground because they were going to “light up the whole country on fire.” One witness testified that he barely escaped the eight to ten foot high flames caused by the arson. The fire consumed 139 acres of public land and destroyed all evidence of the game violations. After committing the arson, Steven Hammond called the BLM office in Burns, Oregon and claimed the fire was started on Hammond property to burn off invasive species and had inadvertently burned onto public lands. Dwight and Steven Hammond told one of their relatives to keep his mouth shut and that nobody needed to know about the fire.

the jury debated for about a week, and apparently, had a two hour drive each way to get to the courthouse or wherever they met at. then, not only that, but that the hammonds were barely allowed one day to present their case, most of which wasn't allowed in the court for "reasons". the jury requested information such as what the punishment would be but the judge kept threatening them and kept trying to make sure the jury was as ignorant as possible on things such as why it makes sense to start a backfire to protect property or other rancher things.

I don't think the issue here is whether or not the arson charges were legit so much as the armed dickholes taking over a federal building.

but you also need to look at the decades of harassment the hammonds face from the BLM, some wildlife department, and eventually, oregon state. (BLM aggressively buying land, using ex employees accounts to publicly shame the hammonds, restricting access to land and water through fence building, which would be a felony offense to bypass to ensure cattle had access to water, forcing the hammonds to build a fence they couldn't afford or lose their livelihood, among other things)
got a link to the decades of harassment and jack booted thugs buying up all the white man's land?

many people have lost their livelihoods due to the BLM and wildlife department. from revoking legal licenses to jacking up fees to ruining property.

here's a bit about a different water battle. (bottom link)

lemme see if i can find the link about where one of the presidents pretty much tried to declare the hammond land to be apart of an indian reservation, for which no indians have ever lived on.

Can you imagine if the Black Lives Matters protesters had unleashed an armed takeover of the Ferguson Police Headquarters? We'd have Waco all over again.

sounds like we need to take them off government assistance and let the market decide whether Oregon still needs ranchers.

That the jury believed. I seriously doubt these guys got screwed in court, but even if they did, what does that have to do with the terrorism in Oregon today?

Um lol? I know for a fact this isn't true, you know first hand experience and all that. They have paid organizers but the vast majority of folks at rallies aren't getting paid to be there.

You don't think armed men taking over buildings and threatening to kill anyone making them move, in an effort to change policies they don't like, is terrorism?
