In b4 the gov't just surrounds the idiots by securing like a 1 mile radius perimeter, sniper shooting our their tires. Then TEAM FREEDOM goes looking for someone to shoot at, gets killed and becomes internet libertarian hero material for generations.

At the end of the video linked to on the Gawker article, the militia spokesman drops the mic by citing ambiguous Supreme Court dicta, without a hint of irony, and walking off. It was great.

This is a "stand your ground" case waiting to happen. Honestly seems if your driving down the road and some random dude with an assault weapon had put a roadblock out in front of you, that would meet whatever threshold you need to reasonably believe your life is in danger.

In which case of course the militia man would be justified defending himself and we have finally arrived at the libertarian Wild West fantasy.

The video of those militia men deliberating is painfully stupid, and terrifying to listen to. They are ****ing crazy, incredibly stupid and they have lots of guns. I'd be terrified if I lived out there.

Barack Obama like, third level thinking FTW. I both kind of didn't imagine this but it's like the only possible outcome, right? Congrats to the federal government if this is headed in that direction. So the BLM deescalates, get their dudes out of there and out of harms way from those crazy ******s, leave the armed paranoid militia ****** types to their own devices, and in what, less than 2 weeks, they are almost engaged in armed civil war with each other over the paranoid fantasies they're imagining their compatriots are all engaged in against each other.
