No, I haven't. Fun has absolutely nothing to do with it being your job or not.

I've explained this already. Go back and read it.

Yeah, I don't stalk you like you stalk me. So, I wouldn't know.

If you don't want to open yourself up to ridicule, it's fine. I was just wondering about it.

IDK, I'm a bit confused by your flip flopping on the issue myself Goodie.

I'm just talking about fairness. Someone shouldn't be exempt from contributing just because they happen to choose that profession.
How else am I supposed to read this?

The argument you are trying to make but failing to elucidate is gambling is a worse than zero sum game and no value is actually created in the process so you feel like EV wise you never won anything even if your actual winnings are positive, as a recreational player at least.

There is a pretty obvious rebuttal to that but I'll let you digest that a bit.

I mean, do we seriously have to have a discussing about this? You see a difference. I mean, you have to.
SO, like in my "real" job, where I mentioned I DON'T have guaranteed income, then what? I only get paid if I WIN the deal, make the sale.

What if my piano pupil thinks my lesson sucks? Is it "guaranteed" only if I don't offer a money-back-if-not-satisfied deal? What if they just decide to stiff me? The transaction cost of suing them for something I do for fun is pretty high so I'd probably just let it go.

I think the argument that Goodie is trying to make is that the fruits of our labor should be taxed so that folks like him can have a good time.

Yeah, this is where taking a less ego-centric view of the universe would be helpful. I've made almost 50000 posts on this forum and maybe a couple of hundred have involved you, ergo clearly I'm stalking you.

Every time I've posted in the politics forum, you've responded. Every. Single. Time.

Seems like a natural conclusion to me.

Don't try to tell me what argument I'm trying to make. I'm well aware of what it is. You all know the difference between a job and gambling for recreation (even though PVN is trying to convince me he doesn't).

So, because of that difference, I think a job should be taxed and gambling for recreation should not. If Gambling is your job, it should be taxed as well. Anyone with a brain should be able to follow this logic.

There is no "right" or "wrong" here. It's my opinion and I have a very good reason for it.

The funny thing is that PVN absolutely doesn't think that gambling for recreation should be taxed yet if you read his responses, it almost seems like he's arguing otherwise.

Why do you think there should be a differentiation of recreational and vocational income?

Once again you've missed the entire point.

How do you determine if gambling is someone's job or not? The answer is YOU CAN'T.

Dude, with 50k posts I'd say the logical answer is that pvn just posts a lot in politics.

I mean like you said yourself, you've appeared in 3 threads.

Goodie, I am going to go out on a limb and guess that you are a "recreational" gambler and not a "professional" one. Correct?

I'll make it easier since you seem to want to argue just for the sake of arguing (kinda your thing). Primary source of income should be taxed, everything else shouldn't. So, if gambling is your primary source of income, it should be taxed. If it's not, it shouldn't.

How's that? So, if you want to moonlight as a piano teacher (even though both you and I know that's entirely different then going to the casino for a few hours), go for it and I'm completely cool with it being untaxed.

Better?

Because of the definition of those words mostly.

Better?
Not really.

How do you determine what someone's primary source of income is?

I don't feel like going through this again. I "hope" you can figure that out as it's really, really, really

really

obvious.

Based on what I've already posted.
