This is quite literally exactly what happens in the politics forum. I've posted significantly in three threads. This one, the guns one, and the smoking one. Why don't you go back and take a look. You've stalked me in each one of those. Especially this one.
It's okay to be obsessed with me. Just own up to it.

Right, that's the point. Amateurs would get an exemption, so why would anyone claim to be a pro in your system?

Maybe on 2+2, but I'm still right. Every thread I've been involved in here, you've come in to argue with me.

True enough. Not really sure how to handle that actually but I'm sure there's a way.
Do you think professionals shouldn't pay taxes?

PVN is a liberty minded individual. I am a liberty minded individual.
As liberty minded individuals, your views are like large sticky, offensive, oppressive magnets, drawing us toward you to correct your ideals.

So, caring about liberty is closed minded?

No, but believing in a blanket ideal such that you do and applying it to every single scenario regardless of circumstance is.

I mean seriously, all you've done here is make blanket assertions while hurling vague, subjective, unprovable ad hominems.

When I've actually tried to discuss the substance of your ideas you've just ignored my posts (a common pattern for you whenever you back yourself into a corner).

I don't think *anyone* should. But if you're going to have them, having people self identify as tax payors or tax exempt is pretty stupid, DUCY?

What did I ignore? I'll respond now if I did. Almost certain I haven't ignored anything of substance that you've said.

Just to be clear, when you say anyone, you mean that gambling winnings shouldn't be taxed at all, professional or otherwise, correct? Not a trap or anything, I just wasn't completely certain what you meant.
Yes, I think it's pretty stupid to have tax payers identify themselves as tax payers when they could identify themselves as exempt. That's why I said I haven't quite thought out how to deal with that (nor do I need to as I'm not responsible for figuring that out, we're just talking about beliefs, not practical adaptation).

It's not just the logistical problem. That's just a symptom of a bigger problem. Anytime people make arguments along the lines of "you should do X because YOUR JOB is Y" they are revealing an underlying authoritarian mindset where people are just cogs in the big machine they want to be at the helm of."
You see stuff like this all the time in discussions where people want to give special speech rights (i.e. source shielding) to "legitimate" journalists (or, on the flip side, restrict the speech of people who aren't "qualified"). You also see it a lot in discussions of things like prescription-only emergency contraception where some pharmacists don't want to carry the particular drug in question. Any time you start defining people in terms of their occupation, a mess of unintended consequences and band-aids on top of band-aids is just around the corner.

You're taking this WAY too far. I was only saying that professional poker players should pay taxes because that's how they earn their living and it wouldn't be fair for them to be exempt when everyone else has to pay taxes on what they earn in their profession.
Not sure what kind of crazy jump you're making.

What difference does it make if income is made "in your profession" or not???
I'm not making any jump at all. This is exactly how authoritarians think. They have some weird need to have everything neatly labeled and put into easily-understood boxes and categories. Their plans don't work otherwise.

The reason is that professional poker players also have access to all the things that taxes pay for, same as professionals in other fields (schools, police, roads, fire department, etc...). They shouldn't be exempt just because they chose a profession that many people use as recreation (and in my opinion shouldn't be taxed when used as recreation).
I'm just talking about fairness. Someone shouldn't be exempt from contributing just because they happen to choose that profession.
