Actually it was more that everyone who wasn't worth a damn or had some obscure religious views came over.

But even the scum of europe was capable of building a real nice country given vast untouched resources, slaves and two big oceans between them and the horrors of ww and ww2, I have to give you that.

mjkidd: you're doing yourself a disservice if you think American craft brews are all IPA variants that taste like pine cones. the variety is jaw dropping if you look around (or go to better stores)

I have drunk loads of American "craft" beer in the attempt to taste one that did not taste like utter piss. It tastes exactly like you would expect from a bunch of culturally bankrupt man children with no heritage let loose in a brewery. Craft brew in America is an analogue of a failed 4th grade science project. It has no class, no depth and is just an amorphous mess.
