Re: From my cold, dead, hands!

Yeah, no, I hear you guys, but I feel like there's a bit of hindsight bias happening here. We know NOW that these were two unarmed (intoxicated?) teens doing whatever (actually, do we know what they were intending, more or less?)

Anyway, if you take away hindsight, you're left with some backwoods dude who'd been robbed the month before, he's alone at home, and suddenly he hears "someone" breaking into his house. No idea who, how many, if they're armed, what they want. So that's the point from which you evaluate his decision-making. (And where, in my opinion, generous leeway ought to be given for irrational and emotional factors in said decision-making by the violated party.)

That said, the part where he executes them after they're down is where he crosses over into clear-cut evil.

Secondly, you're not Fly, you've never been Fly, and I don't know for what possible reasoning you've chosen to link your typically decent posting style with Fly's.

If you in your heart truly believe there's racism in that billboard about gas prices, fine. That's (IMO) an error in judgement on your part, not a new bonding between you two.

FFS, Fly and I were in perfect agreement in the Sovereign Citizen thread, doesn't mean I like him.

I mean Jesus, ITT he referenced the plot of "The Turner Diaries", because he's officially gone so far over the edge that he can't step back like I can and say "I'm FOS here, but I'm doing it for a cause I believe in", he, in his mind truly believed that because NeBlis, myself and the other "gun people" support gun rights we would have actually read "The Turner Diaries".

If you're going to take every post anyone makes LOLing at Fly about calling **** racist personally because you happened to think Fly was right one time then you'll be butthurt banning alot more than just me and LirvA.
LOL, so the whole billboard thread was just you wanting to nonspecifically whine about me some more? Did you happen to check who was the OP of that thread? It wasn't me.

I have no idea what you mean by "doing it for a cause I believe in". I'm not calling things that I know aren't racist racist on the internet for a "cause". suzzer posted a hilarious chain email list about how paranoid rednecks are about Obama taking their guns. You defended it for some insane theory about having to troll for GREAT JUSTICE, which was both independently hilarious and also made the initial list more hilarious.

NeBlis did the standard eager posting about how there'd be a violent, America-destroying revolt if Obama tried to take his guns, and so we lolled about how often the hard right fringe has creepy fantasies about how they'd finally get to shoot somebody in the Second Civil War.

I think the whole thing is pretty sick, as is his description of his bold marksmanship of a target less than one meter away, but he shoots guy 1 in waist, causes him to fall down stairs. he's clearly injured, but what if he does have a gun? old man don't have x-ray vision or eyes in the back of his head to make sure his wounded prey isn't reaching for a weapon while he's calling the cops

Fly, like I told Wookie, if you won't (or can't) read my posts, there's no need to make **** up.

Just skip it, no need to attempt to provide commentary on that which you didn't read/can't comprehend.

I mean, from a sheer tactical standpoint it makes a lot more sense to me to hide from an intruder, assess the threat, and then act. I can't imagine just charging into a room guns blazing at the first suspicious sounds I hear.

Ummm...

When a literary work is referenced in the manner Fly referenced it, you believe it to be a stretch to work on the assumption the person referencing it assumes the audience has read the work?

Seriously Wookie, it's ok.

No one thinks you're dumb for thinking that billboard has racism has racial connotations. I mean, I think you're wrong, but it's enough of a grey area that reasonable people can disagree.

You're going to bat for a guy who thinks the whole deal with the Republitards ****ting a brick over Fast & Furious was, rather than a statement about the general insanity of US politics, due to Obama and Holder's race.

lol at "while he's calling the cops"

He asked a neighbor the next morning about a good lawyer and that's when the cops were finally called. BTW all of this insanity is his story. Who knows what this sicko is leaving out.

While I agree that this was a tragic, likely unnecessary end to the situation, these kids are much less sympathetic figures than many, for the fact that they were breaking into people's homes. It's an incredibly stupid thing to do under any circumstance. Especially for kids their age and (seemingly?) middle class background; it's unlikely they were desperate or w/e and they should have known there are crazy ****s out there who jump at the chance to shoot anyone in defense of their property. If they were younger or w/e I could see them breaking into houses w/o actually considering all the possible consequences.

That being said, the shooter seems like a completely despicable **** and he handled the situation is probably the worst, most reprehensible way possible. I hope he ends up in prison for a long time.

See, this is where you go off the wagon.

The man is crazy (and a criminal) because he went to extraordinary effort to ensure that these two were dead long after they were no longer a threat to him, up to the point of taking the time to get a second gun to ensure the female was dead, then concealed the deaths.

The fact that you are troubled by people grabbing guns when they hear glass breaking suddenly and someone entering their home is odd to say the least.

Re: From my cold, dead, hands!

Yeah I mean I don't really mean to make the kids out to be angels but this is where knowing what the **** you are doing with a gun and not being a crazy nutjob come into play. A drunk college kid in my town was killed a few winters ago for walking into the wrong place trying to get home. Gun owners that can't identify threats and just start shooting are scary and shouldn't have guns imo.

Re: From my cold, dead, hands!

y'know, when i was 15, 16, what have you, and doing my stint of breaking into dozens of cars per week, I was never once tempted to break into a house, cuz, y'know, people could have guns and they might ****ing shoot you if you break into their house

It's amazing how cops don't shoot every "threat" they come across amirite?

I've seen little that shows you're familiar with how all this **** works, so we'll start at the very very beginning.

Assume you're home alone, you don't have a gun, you hear glass break and someone walking around your home. You call 911, cops run to your house.

When they get to the door, will they have guns out IYO?

They do have guns out.

Do they immediately fire upon making visual contact?

That's another issue that needs to be addressed. I'm getting there.

Of course he was wrong for that. I'm starting at the most grievous offenses and working my way down.
