Part of the gamble the NRA made is that a future generation, like the one developing now under this emergent outbreak of shootings, would allow their power to maintain ill-regulation to remain entrenched. Combine that with the new tools we have to crowdsource informational accuracy and value, they have a losing strategy to go with their losing results.

**** might not change overnight, but it rarely does. It took the NRA about 30 years to get us where we are now.

01-26-2014 , 01:04 AM
Just saying one every other school day is unlikely to hold up
01-26-2014 , 01:07 AM
Schedule the parade in that case.

School shootings now defined as dudes in their 20's getting gunned downed by other angry college students. Need to start checking all the crime stats and find out if any shooting victims were University of Phoenix internet students so we can call those school shootings too.

The anti gun argument is pretty easy- don't clownshoe it up with number funny business or concern troll with this silky redefinition of "school shootings". People killing people is horrible and should be a call to action regardless of circumstance.

"mass shootings on the rise, look one happened today" is the librul equivilent of "polar vortex, ergo no global warming"

where are the stats?

Mother Jones tried to put something together but they carefully constructed their definition of "mass shooting" and then on top of that even included things that didn't fit their own narrow definition so that the numbers would look better (Columbine didn't fit their definition but they included it anyway rather than re-evaluate their definition).

pvn,

Not trying to play gotcha, but just wondering if you have a solution to reduce mass shootings (I'm sure we can agree that regardless of if you think they are on the rise or not, they are terrible events) or if they are just something we have to tolerate as part of a free society.

It's public shootings. Schools, universities, colleges, malls, libraries, supermarkets, office spaces, parking lots, night clubs, bars, restaurants, etc.

The semantics derails will fail. Word games won't change the course of events.

plane crashes are rare, no need to regulate air safety
