Great answers goofball.
Here is what you must ignore to tout your current train of thought:
1) How many times are firearms used every year to save lives or prevent a violent crime?
Vs.
2) How many times are people killed with firearms every year?
+
How many people are shot and injured every year?
This is a really great site:
http://www.gunpolicy.org/firearms/region/united-states
This are based on figures from 2011
1) There were 32,163 gun related deaths that year.
2) You had a .01% chance of dying from a gun.
3) If you did die, you were probably the one who pulled the trigger. There were almost twice as many suicides (1.78x) by guns that year than homicides.
4) If you did kill someone who was not yourself, you have slightly worse chances to river your one out (~1.3%) than to justifiably fire (~1.9%).
