LDO... but that wasn't my point.

In a scenario where feds were rounding up guns we would have gone over the cliff.

ya and even if we weren't you'd have jmakin going 'just don't think about using guns!!1"

I'm as liberal as can be and my jimmies would be pretty rustled if "they" came to take my guns. I can't say I'd shoot whoever came to get them, but I'd likely find a way to hide my weapon or something rather than willingly give it up.

I'm just not dumb enough to think there's any chance of that happening in my lifetime. Gun nuts are creepy paranoid weirdos.

If guns ever were taken away, there would be some portion of the population agitating for open carry bow and arrow.

Then I can say extremely comfortably you aren't familiar enough with the pro gun argument to comment.

The class of "white" people that is ably represented on this forum by NeBlis and DBL has spent the last 147 years fapping themselves to sleep about how awesome it'd be to get to use their guns. Whether it's the Turner Diaries, Ron Paul's Survival Reports about moving into the country because the animals are taking over the city, that Freeper post, the Oathkeepers, or whatever the **** suzzer found... it's all part of a long and storied history of being terrified.
Because you linked something to do with Freepers and attempted to link me to it, I can safely LOLfly and move on, without reading the link or bothering to respond to the point.

We get it bro, gun rights advocates freak you out, therefore something something racist.

CSB.

Yea but then we'd have some lady on TV complaining because her neighbor is shooting off his English long bow and it's frightening the children, and then we'd have to separate all the bows into different classes with a draw weight governor on it so by law it can't be more than 55 lbs. And then police officers would complain because some new "cop killer" arrow just arrived on the streets an when you outlaw crossbows only the criminals have crossbows.

And we'd do this all over again, with you and DBJ saying they can take your bows when they pry them out of of your archered hands and others will be all, "If you really want to protect yourself wear a suit of armor and chain mail ldo" Though I'm pretty sure chain mail won't stop a compound bow strength arrow, but then again no one adamant about restricting bows will have done anything to know about bows and arrows.

When a dude tries to rob you clip his bowstring with some scissors, tho.

Seemed realistic though. Hot chicks running around with full makeup after the apocalypse not getting gang-raped. Could happen.

This is entirely too reasonable of a response for you to possibly be a gun owner, gtfo

Well to be fair on that she only had the makeup in the pilot when they were living in the farm town. People have had makeup for centuries electricity or not. But yeah the idea that they can make all this other stuff but not bullets was pretty LOL.

Its just poorly executed with sloppy writing.

Not as bad a letdown as Walking Dead which instead of being one of the best shows ever turned out to be a steaming pile of stupid.

Not sure what you mean? Anti-gun activists do posit some kind of (semi-)causative relationship between gun-related crimes and # of guns circulating, no?

If there's no statistical evidence for that (or evidence to the contrary), that seems relevant. Though I don't know if his findings qualify as that.
11-25-2012 , 09:33 AM
It really doesn't matter, and no it doesn't prove anything.

Crime stats are easy to manipulate, and like the article says, violent crime is on the downswing in the area anyway.

My point was positive press.

Positive press >>>> Statistics showing irrefutable proof of "More guns=less crime".

Anyone who disagrees doesn't really understand people.

Oh man people who trot out correlation does not equal causation every time someone brings up some data (particularly data they don't like) bug me. Correlation is the first step in understanding causation.
11-25-2012 , 09:53 AM

"Correlation doesn't imply causation, but it does waggle its eyebrows suggestively and gesture furtively while mouthing "Look over there'."

THIS

And ftr this doesn't "prove" much wrt guns reducing crime. But it takes the idea that "moar gunz = moar crimez" and slaps it around like that hysterical woman on Airplane.

I mean thats a serious mother****ing metric ****ton of guns and crime is still going down.
