How many people is it so important to have a 30 round magazine vs. 10 that they'd risk jail time?

Just a few days ago she was a gun nut doomsday prepper getting ready for the end of the world stockpiling food, water, firearms and ammo.

She was also deathly afraid of her son and told the babysitter to never turn her back on him when he was younger.

Just trying to figure out what version of her we are going with right now.

Probably no one but that's not really the end game for gun control is it?

You seem confused. Doomsday prepper =/= criminal.

The article that said the baby sitter needed to keep him in visual contact at all times never implied it was because he was going to hurt someone. Sounds more like a helicopter parent with an unbalanced impulsive kid who supposedly can't feel pain.

Yeah if the law doesn't work 100% what's the point right?

Doomsday preppers are not usually the most rational people in the world... or they wouldn't be doomsday preppers.

If you are saying that someone who was afraid the world was going to end and actively prepared themselves for that is just going to turn over completely untraceable magazines I just don't know what to say.

Even if she did decide to turn over the 30 rd mags, the 10 rd mags would have caused the same amount of damage since its not like little kids are going to be rushing him during the second or two it takes to switch mags.

6 adults were killed as well. It's likely a few people would be alive today if the Adam was limited to 10 round magazines.

We have no idea how serious Lanza's mom was about the doomsday thing. If you don't think there's a difference between an upper-class socialite with a ton to lose being on the wrong side of the law vs. a backwoods paranoid redneck - I don't know what to say.

Not very likely... especially since he had the handguns as well.

But even if the prior AWB was still in place those 30 rd magazines would have existed. Especially since it only banned production of new magazines and didn't even attempt to confiscate the ones that existed.

There is no realistic way that we are getting rid of most of the guns/mags from the US at this point.

Well just a few days ago she was a paranoid nutter worried about the collapse of society even though she was getting 250k a year. Maybe not you... but plenty of people were saying that.

And how many upper-class socialites do you know that stock up on guns and ammo? Not exactly your normal suburban soccer mom.

Just go out an check the numbers of weapons turned in or registered vs the estimates (or actual sales numbers) show. The percentages are really low, even in the blue states.

Oh yeah... nice use of the paranoid redneck there

Man set trap and then shot and killed firefighters responding to Webster, N.Y. fire

A man with a criminal history shot and killed two West Webster, N.Y. firefighters and seriously injured two others as they responded to a fire at his home, police say.

William H. Spengler, Jr., 62, apparently started a 5:35 a.m. fire at his home on Lake Road and then waited with an armament of weapons for first responders to arrive, Webster N.Y. Police Chief Gerald Pickering said at an afternoon news conference.

“He was shooting from high ground or a berm," Pickering said. "He was barricaded with weapons to shoot first responders."

After a brief exchange of gunfire with police, Spengler then shot and killed himself at the scene, Pickering said.

I wonder how long it will take to get an accurate version of what happened with this one?

Warning signs for this one - he had been in jail for 17 years for beating his own 92 year old grandmother to death with a hammer.

isn't it illegal for a convicted felon to own a gun?? how can this story be true?

He lived with his sister (missing) at the house he set on fire. Wonder how long it will take for her to be demonized.

I think the general's posts itt has been helpful is presenting an argument supporting the policy of providing therapy for gun owners in the same way we should for drug users. They're not in rational control of their own actions. You guys need help, not punishment.

I see. Well first of all, you should be aware that it is a crime to lie to a federal officer. Secondly, could you please provide the name of the person you sold it to, the amount you sold it for, and any paperwork you have pertaining to the sale.

All the more reason to get started as soon as possible.

I lost the paper I wrote the buyers name on. I mean it's been years since I sold it. I'm not going to jail for losing a piece of paper am I?

Israel rejects the idea that they used armed guards to reduce school shootings.

So... somebody is going to go to jail for something they are not legally required to do?

Awesome.
