OK then forget centrists, how about a scientific mind that sees the entire political landscape as a bunch of people who have adopted completely obsolete ideologies. I'm thinking more like a Buddhist, or hindu or a person or of actual study with an objective outlook. To me political mindsets seems like slave programming. I'm a centrist as in I'll take in consideration of all points and come out with a solution for both sides. It's just like in business, a good negotiation is where both sides get something they want but at the same time feel like they both got screwed.

Politics are a joke cuz of the entire popularity contest. I'm trying to come at it like a statistician, like a poker player like you once were. Find the pointy edges and round them off to not kill you anymore whether it's a leak in your game, the rake or your playing too stiff of competition. You gotta find the ground that works for you.

Taking away guns is stupid cuz history taught us that we need leverage over govt BS. Keeping guns as is... no bueno. A 10 year old with no proper training in life can quad kill some people like it's COD. As a 10 year old with gun training I had a lot of fun taking a parents gun a popping off shots, it's not good for the standard 10 year old now tho.

Center mindset.... upgrade the security on the tech to make it far safer. It would be annoying but upgraded tech is everywhere, just look at people that can't stop staring at their phones, hell even cops drive around staring at their phones like teenagers. Phones have more security on them then guns....

I don't care about political terms, or idealogy and whatever other nonsense they are on. I'm a person that is into fixing problems, I am a science geek. It seems like an easy fix that in 50 years could be the standard. It takes time but it's better then the nonsense the left or right will put up cuz they are so outdated in the software that is in their brains.

People still think like it's the 20th century, time to update the operating system and step the game up imo. Otherwise we get this pathetic mess we call politics these days. My argument far extends just the gun debate.

You come roaring into a guns thread having no idea about the history of smart guns, how do you expect people to react to you?

Sir Huntington,

What's that avatar? You're not TheKid are you?

And science geeks don't react to Stephen Hawking's death by saying "good."

Still waiting for updates on the Maryland school shooting from yesterday. The headlines continue to say the officer stopped the shooting but I can’t find confirmation that the officer shot the shooter (rather than suicide) or that the shooter was the one who hit the other male victim. At this point it could have been a murder/suicide, with no plan to turn into a mass shooting, and the officer may have shot the second victim accidentally just as easily as the good guy with a gun narrative.

In other news, the brother of the Parkland shooter arrested after successfully trespassing at the school three times despite increased security.

Witness: Maryland school shooter put gun to his own head when officer confronted him

Quote:
Isiah Tichenor, a student witness of the shooting, told The Washington Post that Rollins had the gun pointed to his own head when Gaskill ordered him to disarm. "We know you don't want to hurt anyone," Tichenor said he heard the officer say before two shots were fired.
Quote:
Investigators say they have video of the shooting, which will help them evaluate exactly what happened.

So like, you understand that the right thinks your ideas are awful, like literally the worst thing ever, just a total affront to their freedoms, right? And the left more or less supports all your ideas, right? So what are talking about? I mean, it’s pretty clear that one side is rational and the other is crazy, right?

I'd be willing to bet that wayyyyy more gun purchases are made by straw buyers than the NRA wants to admit

This is self-parody, right? It's like a spot-on sendup of every Reddit/SMP super-lokical poster that comes in here.

I almost shot my brother point blank with a 22 when I was 8 and he was 4. Eastern WA. I can vividly remember pointing it at him and him saying “stop it!” I said “it’s not loaded” and shot one round into the rug. My dad ****ing spanked the hell out of me. **** is real yo.

What kind of responsible gun owner would he be if he didn't beat his kid after letting them get hold of a loaded firearm?

Pointing a deadly weapon at your younger sibling seems like a perfect time to have your ass beat.

I was about as stupid of an 8-year-old as you could be. But I had it DRILLED into me "Never point a gun at anyone, never put your finger on the trigger unless you intend to shoot, never assume the safety is on and a gun is always loaded."

Now when I was a teenager and my intimidating stepdad was out of the picture - me and my buddy would play with my mom's revolver for a rush. But we definitely knew better.

So wait. If a bucket of rocks will protect you from a bad guy with a gun, why do we need guns again?
