I don't think "slavery is a choice" is a standard Republican talking point (yet).

if only slaves had unlearned linear thinking, opened their minds to the power of free thought, and told their masters 'i love you' instead of always living in a negative energy space, slavery would have been abolished hundreds of years earlier.

Slaves just needed this:

Funny moment with the chicks I was just traveling with - who are wonderful people but of course because they live in LA and are white (well full and half), they believe in magic and all that manifestation crap.

Basically I'm the kind that always worries about everything when I travel. I spend way too much time imagining worst case scenarios. Which of course they'd reply something like "Stop thinking that negative energy, you'll make bad things happen. Be positive." I explained that no my energy works the opposite. I have to imagine it to keep it from happening.

So we get to my car that's been parked in a Honduras port parking lot for a week - and none of my worries (mainly theft or propane bottle exploding) have come true. They said "See! The car is fine." And I said "See what? That's the power of negative thinking. I made my car safe."

They didn't seem to bond with that. I guess it only works one way.

It's not a standard one, but there are a lot of "if they didn't like it then they could have left, or revolted" with the implication being that, at some level, they wanted to be there. That dovetails nicely into "actually the slaves liked being slaves" with some select notes about how slaves talked lovingly about their masters or their former lives, etc. It's there.

I'm with Victor though. I changed my mind. I don't think he's gone off the deep end. If he had a mental problem someone probably would have found it by now. This is Kanye just being Kanye.

President Trump plans to hire Emmet T. Flood, the veteran Washington lawyer who represented Bill Clinton during his impeachment, to replace Ty Cobb, the White House lawyer who has taken the lead in dealing with the special counsel investigation, who is retiring, according to two people briefed on the matter.
Ty Cobb is gone

I think it was on Pod Save the People that they made the comment that Kanye is exactly what results when you don’t read.

The jury recommended a sentence of 10 years, with the option of suspending some of the time and a $20,000 fine. The presiding judge, Richard E. Moore, will set the sentence on Aug. 23.

I hope he gets the book thrown at him but suspect he'll get like 3 years.

LOL, these are the rats in the engine room that can see the ship is on fire.

I've never seen lawyers run from anything like they run from Trump.
05-02-2018 , 12:46 PM
Ty Cobb -> Emmet T. Flood. Going by the names, it's like Cartoon Network but they're saying Flood is a serious lawyer.

Man there were at least three *******s assaulting that guy, how they avoid getting charged?

I'm around these types a lot as they frequent the type of underground music festivals I like to attend. They're definitely wacky, but at least they're a loving wacky instead of a hateful wacky. I just make light of their hippy stuff and make light hearted jokes and it goes over well. Only issue that I have to avoid because I'll legit get upset is their anti-vax nonsense.

i ****in missed ty cobb by 2 days i'm so upset. fu nyt you couldn't break this monday night?

Him deciding to pick a lawyer with experience in representing Presidents during impeachments is kind of cool.

His firm also worked with Hillary on matters relating to the emails investigation.

Oh, nevermind

his personal doctor called 911 because he was having a 'psychiatric emergency' and also told police he was suffering from psychosis. they handcuffed him to a gurney and took him to UCLA medical where he was held for a week. link

this was the last thing that happened before he disappeared from public view for a year and a half, then came back and set his career on fire. it's a relevant part of the equation imo.

Yeah it's fine as friends - but when 90% of your dating pool believes this stuff it's kind of a pain. I try not to make fun - but I make it real clear I'm not going to get at all excited about how you just manifested a taxi to magically appear by thinking positive.

Which works - you can still date - just like people with diametrically opposed religious views can stay married. But holy crap is it a massive relief when you meet a girl who actually appreciates science. I met an Irish girl on this trip who's an engineer - that's worth like +1 to 2 on the 10pt. scale. The whole key to a lasting relationship imo is lining up on enough checkboxes that you aren't butting heads all the time. When you are internally rolling your eyes at 10% of the stuff she says, that is suboptimal.

Also one of the reasons I seem to gravitate to Asian girls - they tend to think a lot more practical than the average LA white chick. Latinas as well. There is a lot of practical homespun cultural wisdom passed down from mother to daughter in those cultures - which seems to be missing in a lot of American girls for some reason.

Note I know plenty of men who believe this stuff too. I was in a men's circle with a bunch of them. I just don't care because I'm not looking at them as potential life partners.

Speaking of the Irish girl - she makes an appearance the latest blog post: http://ushuaiaorbust.com/2018/05/01/...-lake-atitlan/

I'm in Leon Nicaragua now where all I want to do is sit in the AC. So the blog is getting massively closer to up to date.
