Confirmed not a white guy. Or at least sallow enough for us to be sure this wasn't just locker-room talk.

Already nuked. We hardly knew ye.

Yeah no - gramps was my luree.
05-30-2017 , 04:30 PM
Oh yeah. You lured him from another 2p2 forum not CP.

Nm.

As far as politics, I lured him from FB - where he posts a ton of political stuff but only gets one or two people to engage usually. I'm hoping he sticks around.

I just asked a buddy who works for twitter about the Trump-bot situation. He said they're aware of it and looking into it. FWIW

How much longer before state-sponsored internet trolling starts an actual shooting war?

Can we agree that he's not really off to a great start?

In that article tell me where it says Russians aren't happy with the US based on US-N. Korean relationships.

I didn't expect him to be. He was sufficiently warned the thread probably wouldn't go well. The other side of the equation is I'm trying to expose him a wide variety of POVs rather than just him and me butting heads on FB. He's a very smart, level-headed guy who I've known IRL for a decade. I'm hoping to open his eyes some that Taleb and zerohedge are not the be-all end-all of political knowledge.

I didn't mean not off to a great start as in being well received by the politics forum. I meant not off to a great start with, "having a lot to say politically."

Unless posting dubious links and shrugging counts.

Noodle's point was a good one, because US missile defense testing is more relevant to Russia than to North Korea, even if it is nominally directed as a response to North Korea.

The missile tower **** goes back to either Bush or very early Obama. The Russians essentially did the same **** but on the opposite side of the country with Poland.

My point being is LK needs to stop with the fearmongering stuff like "russkies gonna be mad about n. korean." The Russkies really don't care about North Korea as much as they're testing the waters or our nerves.

If you think he said that the Russians were going to be mad about North Korea, then you are a bad reader who is mad at his own imagination.
05-30-2017 , 06:50 PM
He said the Russians weren't going to like it. Quit being asinine. The North Korean situation is predicated on US-Chinese relations.

And what was the "it?"

Missile defense testing.

You are accusing me of bad reading, but you're not even giving thought about how the Chinese have reacted to our missile tests.

EDITL Which is the point. However the Russkies react, China's actually the actor who matters. So you shouldn't fearmonger with allusions to Russkie displeasure.

And the Russians not liking our missile defenses is not predicated on our Chinese or North Korean relationships.

Well Seinfeld was pretty shaky the first few episodes.

That's besides the point.

The Russians have little control over how the North Korean situation will be handled. It's fearmongering. If you don't understand why trying to spook people about the Russkies is bad, I guess there's nothing to really discuss.

No, it was his whole point.

But wait, maybe I am mistaken. Perhaps it's the case that the missile defense system that had the Russians upset in the 2013 article was only capable of shooting down Russian missiles, and this new one is only capable of shooting down North Korean ones. If that is the case, then I understand your insistence that Russia can only be upset by this system by way of our relationship with North Korea.
