Maria Butina and the tragic death of the NRA Maria Butina and the tragic death of the NRA

12-13-2018 , 02:30 PM

Thread worth a read, as is the statement of facts but cliff notes for those too lazy:

-Maria Butina essentially realized the entire Republican political apparatus was corrupt and open to bribery and kompromat so she got $125k to come to America as an unregistered foreign agent and schmooze with all the RNC bigwigs while telling them exactly who she was, who sent her, and why she was there—to figure out how to help them politically in exchange for “friendly relations” later

-Her boyfriend is ****ed, he is a traitor to the US and will die in jail if he doesn’t flip immediately

-Multiple top level Republicans were complicit, including some that “had the President’s ear”

-this continued on after the election, and they tried to set up a more direct back channel than Butina would qualify as (though undoubtedly she herself was a back channel of sorts)

-She sent the NRA executives to Moscow to meet with Russian leadership in late 2015. They have an email of her saying essentially “let them thank us now we will exploit the kompromat later”. NRA has been alleged to have gotten millions of dollars from these Russians—will this be the end of this organization?

NRA was already on the ropes financially, this could for real end them.

Good OP but not a lot to add. Except maybe a nice message to the NRA...

So can some government agency sue the NRA into extinction? Working in concert with hostile foreign governments seems...really bad?

IANAL, but I’m pretty sure they are in for what lawyers call a holy ****storm of liabilities.
