Anyway, I've been reading up on the Johnson impeachment, and man what a circus that was; I didn't really learn much about it in school. House Republicans tried several times to impeach Johnson on several bull**** charges until they found him in violation of a tick-tacky law that later wound up being repealed. After it failed, the whole notion of impeachment became a mostly discredited idea until Nixon.

It's become a cliche to say that impeachment is all about political power and not criminal behavior, but reading up on Johnson really drives that home. To be fair to Republicans, Johnson was an abominable racist Confederate-sympathizer, so it's arguable that trying to remove him by any means was a worthy goal. One sympathizes in the era of Trump.

I literally think about the "causes" every single time I get dressed, wear makeup, go out anywhere, meet anyone new. So many aspects of my daily life involve analyzing the nuance of these "causes" and the ways I can/should/shouldnt have to mitigate them that I would have to spend actual time listing them all.

I'm out of my element when it comes to feminism. There are so many shades of it that they often end up arguing among themselves as much as they do with MRAs. For example, TERFs seem pretty much unanimously hated by feminists that aren't also TERFs. Yet, I suppose they're still classified as feminists.
