Watched a documentary series on Russia on Netflix called Extreme Russia.

It's pretty disturbing stuff because to me, it showed that America and Russia have more in common than people in either country would like to admit. Both countries have a very strong sense of national identity, their far-right movements have strong political influence, there's rising nationalism and anti-immigrant sentiment, they have a cult of personality surrounding their leader and a small percentage of oligarchs are bleeding the rest of the country dry.

Russia is years ahead of America in all of those areas but it should serve as a cautionary tale for what America could become if people do not actively resist those who wish to turn America into a far-right authoritarian regime.

Lol. Gotta be real, or you wouldn't have posted it, right?

ETA: Okay, I looked it up, and it seems like it's kinda both? A year ago, the Newport Police posted a photo they knew was a meme, that had been "circulating the Internet and Facebook since last July," she said, "perhaps even earlier." "I wrote the post putting our spin on it and having a little fun with it," O'Carra added.

WTF, their police department is trolling their audience?

"The cat was given a verbal warning," Newport Police said on Facebook, "for posing with what could be mistaken as an assault rifle while wearing poor camouflage attire."

http://www.oregonlive.com/trending/2...warning_t.html

That was just one link. There are others with other instances of trolling with this. WTF is this ****?

The picture/video is kinda funny though. The cat is holding a small branch that is kinda shaped like an assault weapon, but how in the world could it be that small?

Went Onion bc I don't think Dollar Tree sells assault weapons (unless cheap ammo in the South or something?), and it's a follow-up on the game, probably a trick.

ETA: Clicked through, lol, not a bad article.

Patron,

I have posted a few Onions for Real or Onion. I am well aware of the need for a balanced range.

Good thing I missed those or didn't think of them then.

Honestly went 2/2 on these just now, but would have completely bombed Dominic's link in the main Presidency thread. That **** be cray.

Eh? Reykjavik has famously good nightlife. It doesn't kick off until about midnight though.

Why do so few people have their own domain? It's incredibly easy, dirt cheap, and you have total control of your junk without every detail of your life being mined for marketing data.
03-02-2018 , 11:55 PM
We can't all be masters of our domain.

MIT study shows how much driving for Uber or Lyft sucks
The researchers found profit from ride-hail driving to be “very low”. On an hourly basis, the median profit was $3.37 per hour, with 74% of drivers earning less than the minimum wage in the state where they operate.

...

So what does the study tell us about the ride-hailing business model? “It tells us that it’s a ****ty place to work,” says Mark Tluszcz, co-founder and CEO of Mangrove Capital Partners who has described the gig economy model as the modern day sweatshop, and says his VC firm made a conscious decision not to invest in gig economy companies because the model is exploitative.

I think it's good to go to classes, but only if there's somewhere relatively secular available. If you go to a full on Buddhist place you'll drown in esoterica.

Theories on that situation lol?

The cops might have had more information, like maybe it had been sitting there for several days or there was something legitimately suspicious about it.
