Seriously? Brooks' entire filmography is loaded with racial, sexist and ethnic stereotypes that do not play well at all in the 21st century.

Why exactly? This isn't "me tooing" sexual assault, this is claiming Franken gets upset about politics and that's kind of his job.

women deserved to be believed.

birther hacks such as melanie morgan deserve to be believed less. nobody believes al franken "scared the living hell" out of her.

If he did scare the hell out of her what is the punishment for that exactly?

In the interview she indicates that they never kissed on stage and that she’d found a blog post to from an attendee to back her up.

It all seems pretty consistent.

To all the "she’s a friend of Hannity" people, does this mean she can never be sexually assaulted by anyone?

Either this post will be judged pretty harshly, or a lot of people are going to look like hypocrites

Facepalm. The "friend of Hannity" rightwinger aspect is relevant precisely because the person she's accusing is a Democratic Senator.

In her blog report she says she turned her head so he kissed her cheek in the skit. Good thing they rehearsed it so they knew not to go for the over the top tongue kiss during the show.

Isn't the whole point that Brooks is satirizing those stereotypes?

Okay, but it’s not like his seat is likely going to flip red or anything. No real point to getting him booted.

she's been haranguing her political opponents for years, i've listened to her every so often when she had a show on KSFO.

here she doesn't allege any sexual advances, and is exactly the sort who is proud of her dogmatic ignorance. It's very hard to imagine her being intimidated about a political discussion.

Just saw this on FB:

“People make mistakes,” she replied. “I’m not calling for him to step down.”

I think your applying your barrier/understanding of 'scared the living hell' out of to someone you don't know.

Let me preface this by saying I am NOT writing off her allegations. That said, yes there obviously would be partisan gain in doing this. The media narrative pushed hard by right wingers is that Weinstein, Weiner = The Democratic Party. This has recently been undercut by the Roy Moore allegations. Now the Franken allegation will flip some media scrutiny back on Democrats and so will begin the false equivalence.

The democrats whiffed this. They should have all called for Franken to step down. Dem would have replaced him anyway and it would have exposed the hypocrisy of the republicans. There should be a gold ****ing standard to be an elected official and a photograph of you making a lude gesture to a sleeping women without her consent should be enough to make you fall far below that standard

This might be little more than a nitpick, but you're forgetting we know about the context. Obviously, trivially, the photo ISN'T enough all by itself.

Agree with this 100%. Well maybe not "elected official," but certainly at the level of US House rep and beyond.

Seriously. Congress has a huge issue with sexual harassment they’re trying to deal with, and somehow this type of behavior shouldn’t be disqualifying?

The hypocrisy is out in the open already. All the Republicans who cared about hypocrisy have already left the party.

That's definitely not true, it might appear it from the outside to the politically savvy individual. A lot of people care a lot less about politics than us and vote one way simply because they always have.

Only 30-35% of that mess of a party are insane - there's 65-70% up for grabs.

Yeah, seriously. The town's racism is made fun of in that movie. Neither hero is racist. All the racists are idiots. It makes fun of racial stereotypes. I don't know who would be offended if it's not rednecks or something.

I wouldn't have thought it a couple of years ago, but now...
