French people (at least the 2/3 that voted for Marcon), feel free to be smug. You have proven your intellectual superiority.

Funny when in fact you hold more fascist views than me.
You support Donald Trump. He is a fascist through and through. And if you understood that, you would understand that Ann Coulter wanting to terrorize undocumented students at Berkeley is not a free speech issue in the slightest.

Why Macron overperformed his polls:

Spoiler:

came out only a few days ago.

such a bizarre election. first time macron ever runs for anything and he's the president. after having started his own party and having more or less stabbed the (incredibly unpopular) guy that gave him a chance in the back.

will the ps be completely destroyed now? and le pen did alright, but will fn push her out now? in favour of her niece?

i almost feel bad that im just going to ignore france the next 5 years.

No I do not you clown. You or anyone else will not find a single post of mine praising Trump as a president because it does not exist. I can find you multiple posts criticizing him saying he will make a bad president and saying that Bernie would make a better president.

What you will find is me defending the right of his supporters to hold a rally without the threat of physical violence ans defending the right of right wing speakers to appear at university's.

I support freedom of speech for those I disagree with politically . It doesnt get more "unfascist" than that for lack of a better term.

Anyway we are off topic here and im more than happy to continue the discussion in the right thread.

If Le Pen had polled better I'd be very fearful of the chance of her Nazi niece Marion taking over, but it seems like a suicidal move for the FN now (plus there's no love lost between them).

Congrats, France!

Le Pen's party is going to rebrand so the FN won't be doing anything to anyone.

LOL as if that will change anything about their nature.

The National Front in the UK was wiped out electorally in the late 70s and re-branded itself (with new leadership) as the British Nationalist Party, but still failed to make much electoral headway, and disbanded altogether after a few years.

Vive la France

At least one Western nation rejects fascism

To be fair, if things happened in reverse and Russia became global news in election hacking a year before the US election, Hillary would have won. Despite the idiocy and stubbornness of Trump voters, plenty of independents and social media users would have been skeptical enough to make the difference.

Not saying France is or isn't smarter, just that Trump wouldn't have won without every bit of help he had.

That said, well done.

French turnout was 74%, that blows away even our high turnout elections

(America should have weekend voting)
05-07-2017 , 03:32 PM
I'd love to hear the logical contortions from Republicans if the Dems tried weekend voting. What would the argument against be? Easier to bus illegals around or something?

Makes you think

From chiefsplanet, where they're basically making the case that all political decision should be based on fear of terrorism: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showt...=307576&page=2

Just came in to see info about Pigpen throwing in the towel and had to wade through scores of syndrome d'immunodéficience acquise posts.

My guess is, "These commie libs are spitting on our ancestors' graves by breaking the Tuesday voting tradition. It was good enough for the Founders, but not for them? Where are my pearls?"

They'd have to tie it to voter fraud somehow.

Or maybe "We don't believe the working men and women of this country should have their sacred weekends desecrated by the need to vote, when Tuesday has worked perfectly fine for 200 years."

Yep.

This works also, because it will put the Breitbart people in a fuming rage of betrayal.

One quick question to the foreigners. Our president just got elected and has to rally his fans somewhere in the city. He is in a car and drives past the red light. Reporters in motocycles don't stop either. Do you find that shocking not to stop at the red light?

that's depressing

One of these nationalists is going to have to start a world war to remind us what's at stake I suppose. hopefully we'll survive!

If the roads are closed, no. If they're not, then wtf, that's incredibly dangerous.
