Pittsburgh cop acquitted in trial where he shot an unarmed black teen in the back that was running away in "fearing for his life" defense.

the teens were in what we call a jitney in pittsburgh, meaning an unlicensed taxi. the car had been suspected in a drive by previously. to my knowledge there was never any information linking any of the passengers to the driveby and there were no weapons found with the kids.

oh yeah it was cop's first day on the force, although he had been a campus police officer earlier.

Columbus PD "moral crimes" unit that arrested Stormy Daniels is disbanded after alleged criminal behavior by officers

Quote:
The announcement comes the same week that one former vice unit officer — Andrew K. Mitchell — appeared in federal court on Thursday to address charges he forced two women he had arrested to have sex with him in exchange for their release. The vice unit’s end also coincides with the recent release of results of an internal investigation into the July 2018 arrest of Daniels, the adult-film actress who alleged the incident was politically motivated and in retaliation to her claims of having sex with Donald Trump before he became president.
Quote:
The government also alleged in court filings that they have found women who lived in properties owned by Mitchell — including drug addicts and prostitutes — who say they had sex with Mitchell for reduced or free rent, the Dispatch reported.

i feel like vice units are always the worst. there was a couple stories around here where one would have sex with hookers in his car, and then another one tried to have the DA prosecute a bust where he let the hooker get him erect and put the condom on him before he revealed he was a cop.

Police finally released the video of the killing of Willie McCoy.

Quote:
The disturbing body-camera videos show the young rapper had moved his hand to scratch his shoulder before officers opened fire. The footage is consistent with key*claims of McCoy’s family, who watched footage earlier this month and*said the officers “executed” him*while he was not alert or awake. The*videos, released after significant pressure, show:

The officers did not try to wake McCoy up or talk to him after they spotted a gun in his lap, and instead pointed their firearms at his head directly outside the car as he slept for several minutes.

One officer said: “I’m going to pull him out and snatch his ass.”

The officers then realized the firearm did not have a magazine in it, noting to each other that if it was loaded, it would have a single bullet in it: “He’s only got one shot if he shoots.”

The officers then appeared to make a plan to fire at him, with one saying, “If he reaches for it, you know what to do.”

McCoy eventually started to move, scratching his shoulder and not yet appearing alert or saying anything to officers, and several seconds later, all six officers fired at him.

Is the full video anywhere? I've looked at two versions (including the one in that article) and neither shows the part between him scratching his shoulder and when police open fire.

Regardless, it's pretty difficult to imagine a worse way to handle that. "Let's all have guns trained on him until he wakes up, at which point we shout commands loudly at him and start shooting as soon as he moves"...what in the ****?

because of course gangsters are strapped with mere toys

the fact that this veneer was (even conceivably) effective to begin with is completely damning

ETA: clicked in, and ^ terrible take. The cops had the guns to plant on children they shoot. No bottom.

This seems totally legal and cool:

Quote:
Newly released surveillance video shows two Chicago police officers dragging a 16-year-old girl down stairs, while punching her and using a stun gun on her. The video is now being used in a lawsuit against the city, the two officers, and the school district's Board of Education. The incident occurred when the officers were called to escort the girl out of her high school for having her phone out in class.
