Cell phone spying near White House. Trump's phone is not secure, right?

Really interesting Planet Money episode on how Republicans targeted state legislatures in 2010 in order to turn gerrymandering up to 11:

KJU wants someone other than NK to pay his Singapore hotel bill. Really?

NK is a humanitarian crisis, is it not? Is it not possible to throttle the country financially and force it to be more humane to its people? Isn't that part of why whomever is in charge of NK at whatever time has summits in the first place, to push further down the road economic ruin brought on by its massively corrupt gov't?

https://tradingeconomics.com/north-korea/gdp select the max time

Relatively for NK, no, they are not in crisis.

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/07/20/nort...r-program.html

Their economic growth in 2016 was 3.9%.

And throttling a country has made it more humane, when?

I'll remind you of this:

Wealth is what brings humanitarian reforms and democracy, not poverty.

Not entirely sure that Melania wasn't a winner for May.

Michelle Wolf's Netflix show needs some work.

I watched David Letterman's interview with Obama after that. It was more serious than I expected. It was pretty good, but it obviously went way over time and had some pretty bad editing. It seems like they are interrupting each other all the time, but I think it's just the cuts. My first thought when Obama came out actually was "how was his standing ovation so short?", but I bet it was much longer and then cut.

The incredible childishness of Trump and Trumpkins is so stark in contrast to Obama, but ironically if we just let the actual children do the voting we would have been much better off.

KJU's not worried about economic ruin, he's worried about a coup.

That wasn't the point. Teflon's point was about economics and how they might only cave on human rights if there were a little more pressure. Well, they survived the much harder times in the late 90s as a prison camp and they aren't one sanction away from giving up on totalitarianism now.

And we should be a little cautious about assuming our perception of NK in the US is not distorted. There are 164 countries that have diplomatic relations with NK. It's unusual that we don't. I'm not saying they belong next to Norway on the cool country list, but we may get a distorted picture.

I voted today. It was pretty arduous and I let a LOT of offices either go without a vote or had little or no reason to pick a candidate. Voting on the judges was especially like that and there were soooo many to vote on.

I think it's good that people have some say, but this is just asking people to mostly vote for names they like. Most of these things should probably be appointments with the possibility of a popular recall or something. At least in a huge place like Los Angeles County.

So I just heard on CNN (lol) that Scott Pruitt, in addition to all the other bad things he's done, has "spent thousands of dollars on fountain pens" and I'm thinking, awww yeah, let's see them Namikis, *****.

Reality is always disappointing. Dude spent a whopping $1,500 for 12 pens given out as awards. Is this really news-worthy?

This is not news, but

https://www.cfr.org/blog/foreign-aid-fallacies

Quote:
In its most recent survey PIPA found that the median estimate of the share of the federal budget devoted to foreign aid was 25 percent.
Quote:
The punch line here, of course, is that only about 1 percent of the federal budget goes to foreign aid.

Or maybe they will guess 0.01% because folk hero Donald Trump used the power of MAGA to instantly cut off all the free loading foreigners.

I got there from something in a book I'm reading that quoted an earlier PIPA survey. It's always been people putting the number at much much much higher than it actually is. Maybe some Trumpkins will think like that though.

Electing judges directly is (IMO) a bad idea. People just don't know enough to make an educated vote. Have local politicians appoint them to relatively short terms.

Just had a group of three young people doing door-to-door proselytizing go straight to WW3 fear mongering when I told them I wasn't interested in their religious ideas. I was left wondering if it might be more effective these days to just come out of the gate with the end times stuff.

well i finally arrived in good ol' texas, and if i have to post one thing itt this month, it's that nobody should ever rent a moving truck from budget, ever. pay a little more, go with a competitor- if you don't, chances are it will end up being one of the worst decisions of your life.

now who the **** do i call to help out my man beto
06-03-2018 , 04:38 PM
One way truck rental sucks. I have a lot of experience with local rental from u-haul (mostly trailers for work) and they are easy. They used to suck, but they got their act together for the most part now.
