Speaking of FB, their market cap dropped a record $110b yesterday. Zuck's share of that was $19b.

I saw a video showing how a top notch engineer at FB makes like $500k+/year - with $300k or so of that being from stock grants. I wonder what an event like this does to their salary?

This situation is not an exception. The line about universities in Utah is one that you will particularly regret when you read this again in a week.

You will ultimately feel a lot better if you replace all the clever little digs with clear, direct descriptions of what you think they've done wrong, what authority proves that they're wrong, what you expect them to do now and what you intend to do if they continue in their misguided course of action.
Good advice and in one's personal life as well.

I mean, if you want to rip on the opposing lawyers then thats fine, but it comes off as super presumptuous about the judges ruling and insulting to utah schools and overall elitist as hell.

proly should edit that a bit.

If that throws out something weird-looking, then for sure, that's cause for concern. But I think it's very unlikely some bunch of Russian hackers managed to predict the polling error, so if GA's numbers are in line with that broader trend, there's probably nothing to see here.

Editorís Note: This story was an opinion piece asserting there was evidence that hackers changed votes in the 2016 election. However, a number of statements in the piece are disputed by experts. As a result, we have pulled it down for editorial review, and will update it once that review is completed.

Itís even higher variance in finance. Kinda sucks when you personally kill it but get like half of what you expect because of overall company results.

No pets. I do have parents and siblings in the area who put a crimp on my hardcore hermit lifestyle tho.

Quriyat, Oman had a low temperature of 109F the other day. I guess they're lucky that the desert can't catch fire.

High was 110 F in Phoenix today and yesterday. It actually seemed cool compared to Tuesday and Wednesday. Fortunately we haven't gotten too close to 120. That's my limit.

Re: July LC Thread **Survivor White House Edition**

Okish travel article on Berkeley, mainly covering some places to eat. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/27/t...e=sectionfront

Found the description of this 2 table "soup nazi" type pizza place interesting. It's one dude, and you have to call ahead and reserve a time to pick up your pizza. Found their website pretty amusing. http://emiliaspizzeria.com/

Quote:
The wait time varies a lot. It could be 10 minutes or 4 hours. We know what the wait time is, more or less, at any given moment, but, we can't control it. That's why we recommend that you place your order by phone. We start answering the phone at 4pm. You can also request that we call you to take your order.

Takeout is the default. Our 2 tables are generally reserved and not available for walk-ins or people who ordered for takeout. If you want to eat at the pizzeria, it's best to reserve a table when ordering. Table reservations start 10-15 minutes before the first pizza you order and end 45 minutes after the last pizza. Each pizza has a unique scheduled time, and, for the sake of all our guests, we do our best to stay on schedule, even if a guest is late.

Re: July LC Thread **Survivor White House Edition**

So am part of a huge network of colleagues online where we discuss billing matters and how to get reimbursed by insurance companies (mental health).

Was told that there is federal law that prohibits us from sharing rates we're given in contracts with private insurance companies.

I'm not getting any specific citations from these folks but goddamn that seems pretty heinous, and also feels totally contrary to everything I've learned which is explicitly the OPPOSITE; that employers are disallowed from discouraging employees from discussing their compensation, which is federally PROTECTED.

Does the Sherman Antitrust Act have anything to do with it?

Not technically in Berkeley (Oakland or Albany, but Berkeley adjascent) Zachary's is my favorite pizza. I haven't tried the 2 table pizza place though. I will probably be having some next week.

Employees of a company are treated very differently than health care professionals working for different companies. Doctors are considered independent contractors and anti trust law applies.
