Billy Joel sucks, wouldn't think too much about it.
07-15-2018 , 12:51 PM
You would if you couldn't get that stupid song out of your head.

I think Paul is a real estate agent who fancies himself a novelist. I think Billy Joel is allright, but my youngest daughter is a huge fan and went to a concert not very long ago. She's a little weird. She's also into Jimmy Buffett.

I got a new phone and on Gmail Google is reading emails and suggesting specific quick replies like, "Wednesday works for me."

Genius has your answers, or some of them anyway

Paul and Davy continue to exemplify the loneliness and wistfulness of the song. They both are so absorbed in their respective careers, it is unlikely they will ever be able to escape.

Paul was based on a real-life real estate agent whom Billy would always see at the bar. Paul would be working on what he considered “the great American novel.” But since Paul was at the bar, Billy assumed he’d never finish the book (or, as the lyrics state, have “time for a wife.”)

“Davy who’s still in the Navy” refers to David Heintz, a man Joel met at a bar in Spain. David’s daughter Lisa explains:

[Dave] met Billy Joel in a pub in Spain in 1972 while he was in the Navy. He married while he was in the navy, had three children. He passed away in 2003 of ALS. It really hurts when I hear this song played on the radio and they leave this part out.

Now Paul is a wannabe writer
Whose novel was never released
And he's talkin' with Davy, who'll get out of the Navy
When he dies of Lou Gehrig's disease

lol
07-15-2018 , 01:38 PM
The song was not a Davy biography. Lol at being sad the song “left that part out.”

I hate when they showed my dad as a waiter on Big Bang theory they didn’t show him getting crashed into by a drunk driver on the way home from the set.

I'm dumb

Interesting but won't matter for the election.

What version of Piano Man leaves out that lyric?

Lol, I totally misinterpreted her statement, which led to the confusion. I had never heard it left out, but assumed there was some ****ty radio edit that cut that verse. Nvm I get it now.

I wonder if Davy even makes the song if his name doesn't rhyme with navy.

1) What's wrong with staying in the Navy? If you're there for a while you might as well see it through. Davy is gonna get the last laugh when he gets that sweet govt pension.

2) Wtf is a "real estate novelist" and how does it keep you so busy that you never have time for a wife?

3) Of course John at the bar would rather be some place else. He's at *work*. He's still quick with a joke and a light of your smoke. What else are you asking for?

Thank you for your time. I'll show myself out.
I don't think Joel is necessarily saying there is anything wrong with it, just stating that Davy's still in it (but maybe you're right, and Joel's saying "you're still in the Navy? What's wrong with you?")

I don't drink margarita's very often, but I do love being wasted away. May as well pass the time being drunk while I'm on this rock spinning around the sun.

Why have you *******s never told me about Facebook timeline grid-view? So much easier to find old posts.

Kind of amazed Pussy Riot hasn't been assassinated yet.

I can help. I recently visited the Bush Presidential Library and learned that his accomplishments include Cutting Tax, Making Decisions, and Afghanistan.

By the end of his life he'll definitely have done the most good by a huge margin.

He's also started a club of billionaires where all of them pledge to give like 90%+ of their wealth to charity when they die and they all currently work together for good causes.

He's done a bunch of Reddit ask me anythings and he seems like an absolutely fantastic human being. Obviously he was a douche while he was building his empire, but he's done a complete 180, mostly due to his wife.
