I was saying the same to my buddy last night. If it wasn’t for my damned scruples I’d be selling MAGA energy drinks with all proceeds going to the email research group to lock her up for Jesus llc. Secret ingredient? Freedom Bleach. Prominently listed.

The overreaching big government deep staters at the FDA tried to ban "America #1 AR-15 Power Drink" because they said americans weren't MANLY enough to handle the Freedom Bleach!

That's the greatest metaphor for America in 2018 ever and I'm 100% visiting this the next time I'm in the area.

The ring wing media successfully cowed Facebook to let them get a free hand on Facebook. Facebook had an event trying to showcase their fight against #fakenews

It didn't go as planned. Midway through the Q&A session,*CNN reporter Oliver Darcy grilled Head of News Feed*John Hegeman about its decision to allow*Alex Jones' conspiracy news site Infowars*on its platform. Specifically, how could the company simultaneously tout its crackdown on misinformation while still permitting Infowars to operate a page with over 900,000 followers? Hegeman's response was simply that the company does not "take down false news."

Hegeman went so far as to suggest that Infowars — which in recent weeks has pushed the baseless conspiracy theory that Democrats were planning to start a civil war this July 4 — hadn't violated Facebook's rules. "I guess just for being false that doesn't violate the community standards."*he said. "I think part of the fundamental thing here is that we created Facebook to be a place where different people can have a voice. And different publishers have very different points of view."
Quote:
Though Facebook's misinformation fight is a new initiative, the rationale behind its implementation is rooted in a*decade-old philosophy of dodging notions of political bias and censorship*at all costs. The result is a near-pathological resistance toward taking a stand against actors that brazenly flaunt Facebook's rules. And by doing so, Facebook plays into the hands of those who seek to wage information war.

During yesterday's session, Su argued that Infowars operates in a gray area — often toeing the line of provably false but not always crossing it — and, according to CNN, suggested that the company was focusing its takedown efforts on outlets that "can be proven beyond a doubt to be demonstrably false."

Lost in Su's explanation is the fact that this gray area is part of what makes Infowars' conspiracy and false information machine so effective. By offering baseless theories with a*kernel of truthand then distorting and sensationalizing them in bad faith, Jones is able to*spread misinformation and then retreat from it with little penalty. Similarly, Infowars' ability to abut community standards without flagrantly crossing them (for example, baselessly suggesting that experts argue Sandy Hook may have been a hoax, rather than asserting it himself) allows the outlet to inject false news into Facebook's ecosystem.

Not sure how Facebook could be any worse at claiming to be against fake news

Facebook is an awful, awful company. Deleted it all a year ago, definitely improved my life.

How are Log Cabin Republicans an actual thing?

The speed they're moving on this makes me think they were just about sick of his antics anyway.

You can come live by me in Tucson as it actually fits that bill pretty well for the time being. We have some industries moving here so I don’t know how long it lasts but cost of living is currently quite low and we have tons of breweries/great coffee shops.

Other option is just to move to Canada at this point...

Does that count the cost of air conditioning?

The few cities in Canada worth living in are all ridiculously expensive.

Employers will do almost anything to find workers to fill jobs - except pay them more

Read this in context with the "wage growth has flatlined" tweet from earlier (forget what thread that was in)
07-13-2018 , 03:40 PM
"Labor shortage" never being followed by "at the wages employers want to pay" is reason #28,543 the USA media is a disgrace
07-13-2018 , 04:01 PM
People saying that there's a ton of jobs. Yet, they simultaneously claim that there's a shortage of nurses, doctors, and STEM workers.

I guess all those extra jobs involve pulling espresso and working in food trucks.

the stock market is doing its job, spiraling exorbitant wealth to shareholders and CEOs

lol wage growth.

These overlord *******s are so damn short sighted and selfish.

When they crash the economy (again) they are going to lose way more money than they get from tax cuts. Also, who do they think angry poors are coming after? Oh wait, they'll just blame Mexicans. But my first point stands.
