Quick Google research indicates that congress had to pass a law to compel pharma companies to conduct clinical trials on children because they would not do so on their own.

If their engineers really do go around spouting this kind of nonsense, it's only a matter of time before SpaceX ****s up bigly.

When the mother’s body spends hundreds of calories making a food specifically to feed her baby we can probably just assume it’s good, ya know? Like our body also probably poops, pees, and sweats out the correct thing as well.

Bill Gates and JK Rowling def not evil billionaires, Warren Buffet seems maybe alright, only ones I can think of offhand.
07-10-2018 , 07:41 PM
One thing that distinguishes all three of those people is that they have an appreciation of the role luck plays in success. I know Gates is aware of how lucky he was to have mainframe access in his teens and that MS-DOS got hitched to the very successful IBM PC architecture.

Lady who founded Spanx is probably the most evil billionaire in the world.

Been at Summer League a bit and not only is everyone requested to stand for the anthem every day, but the announcer says "please direct your eyes to the Stars and Stripes hanging from the ceiling... The Flag of Freedom!". Gotta say it is pretty tilting. The anthem renditions are always awful too. Today was a high school choir, which was much better.

Sarah Palin on Tuesday took to Facebook to reveal that she was unknowingly interviewed by comedian Sacha Baron Cohen for his upcoming Showtime series, Who Is America?

The former Republican vice-presidential candidate said she sat down for an interview with Cohen thinking he was a wounded U.S. veteran.

"Yup — we were duped. Ya’ got me, Sacha. Feel better now?" Palin began. "I join a long list of American public personalities who have fallen victim to the evil, exploitive, sick 'humor' of the British 'comedian' Sacha Baron Cohen, enabled and sponsored by CBS/Showtime."

She continued: "This 'legit opportunity' to honor American Vets and contribute to a 'legit Showtime historical documentary' was requested of me via a speakers bureau."

Palin went on to say that she and one of her daughters traveled across the country to meet with Cohen, who, she says, "had heavily disguised himself as a disabled U.S. Veteran, fake wheelchair and all."

Palin also claimed that "the Cohen/CBS/Showtime production team purposefully dropped my daughter and me off at the wrong Washington, DC airport after the fake interview, knowing we’d miss all flights back home to Alaska." She added, "I wrote this off as yet another example of the sick nature that is media-slash-entertainment today.
hahahhahahahahahahaahahahahahahahaha

I am so ****ing pumped for this

That is just about the best advertisement for that show possible.

LOL at dropping them off at the wrong airport. That's an outstanding touch.

Do you guys remember when "Fake News" was just fake news, a thing that existed and was specifically defined?

Not sure a better example exists of how much better the right is at spin and messaging. They realized dumbass Trumpkin's were out there in Ukraine kinda sorta hurting their brand by making boldfaced bulls*** news stories, so they co-opted the term but redefined it, using it to describe actual news stories that weren't to their liking.

Flash forward a year or two, nobody remembers what fake news is (was?) and only know of Fake News!!1! a la Trump and the GOP.

I almost made this same joke because it’s really the sickest thing imaginable that people will defend a system in which this lady has more money than 99.99999% of other people.
07-10-2018 , 11:01 PM
I had to ask the internet if JK Rowling was really a billionaire, and I still don't believe the answer even though it was a heavily hedged "maybe".

So I had a comment "liked" by an apparent rando who is followed by... Guess!

Spoiler:
Barack Obama. It's kind of freaking me out.

Can anybody come up with a historical example where the sorts of things the US is doing right now turned out to be good? Or even an example in fiction where something similar to our present course is what the good guys do?

Egyptian immigration policies vis a vis the Sea Peoples

Roman anti-Visigoth sentiment
07-10-2018 , 11:55 PM
I'm not entirely sure the Sea Peoples and Visigoths were looking to support their families with modest careers in the building trades and food service industries.
07-10-2018 , 11:58 PM
lol I kind of doubt they actually dropped them at wrong airport deliberately but I hope it's true.

Re breastfeeding

There's a history of formula companies marketing the benefits to the developing world, women not being able to consistenly afford formula, their own milk drying up, watering down formula, too diluted with unsafe water and their babies dying.
