Is that the one that was pirate-themed? I thought that one was in or around NO. That was by far the best ep of that show, if those people weren't legit nuts they were fantastic actors.

Your RW experience deserves its own thread IMO

I actually advertised paranormal investigations in my area and had a few calls. Nobody bit but I figured it had to be about the easiest job in the history of the world, seeing as how...

Spoiler:
...there's no such thing as ghosts.

Im actually going to watch the world cup today with someone today. I do watch sports sometimes. Please disreagard my other 16510 posts. The sport i find most boring to watch is baseball. I watch sports on occasion and I played soccer in middle school. I tried out and practiced with my high school football team for a couple weeks too but it was too weird for me.

I felt kind of sorry for him because the same thing nearly happened to me. Rounding a corner back home which was blind because of bushes on the median strip (have to translate to American here I think, is it "traffic island"?) and suddenly two people materialised out on the road. I swerved hard and must have missed the one girl by like an inch, doing the speed limit of about 35mph. If I'd hit her it would not have been my fault, it's not a place where pedestrians should be.

That said, I don't want to hear this guys gruesome story when he's driving me around.
It's already different than my sleepy interpretation of "hit and killed her in his cab." I was like "damn, she must've really been mouthing off, or he was having an especially bad day or something. Surprised he beat the charges."

Are you saying... bernie would have won?

I think he's finally admitting that Hillary's strategy of trying to get Republicans to vote for her was terrible, and that she's responsible for her election loss

(also, lol at "the religious right who maybe didn't like him very much" - dude, that's his ****ing base)

I think this is dead on. If promising ultraregressives gets him the votes, he's fine with that since he doesn't really see any direct value to his own pocket (he's too dumb to think in the long-term ways necessary to see that value). Meanwhile, he found a bunch of rubes who are fine with burning the economy to the ground if they get to oppress women, so they're in. It's win-win.

The thermometer in my truck read 118 in the San Fernando Valley a couple minutes ago it's down to 116 now. Now that may not be exactly accurate but I've never seen it that high before.

Algeria possibly set a temperature record for the continent of Africa yesterday, at 124 degrees

Side note: solidly into the Sahara seems like an odd/bad place for a city of 200k (article says "nearly half a million" but Wikipedia disagrees)

An entertaining story on Credit Suisse hiring people for no-show jobs because they're related to important people, with entertaining commentary by Matt Levine

Quote:
Her performance in training was unorthodox: “Credit Suisse employees complained that she failed to attend a mandatory boot camp, brought her mother to training events, and left early.” Her multiple-choice quizzes were abysmal: “She filled in a pattern of 5As in a row, 5 Bs in a row, etc. on the answer key.” She was “the most famous intern ever.” She was given a full-time job offer anyway.
Quote:
And her employee reviews were unorthodox. “I’m wondering if we can explain that she’s a special situation and there’s no need to give feedback,” one Credit Suisse employee wrote to another. Another emailed to say that he was “at a complete loss as to what to write for” her review, and suggested ideas like “Pls come to the office more often — we would like to see more of your smiling face” and “Come to the office, answer your phone, don’t be rude.” She was promoted to associate after two years.
Quote:
The whole point of the SEC’s case is that she did make the deal possible for Credit Suisse. Not by burning the midnight oil building spreadsheets and formatting pitchbooks, but … look, in my experience, it is somewhat unusual for the analysts and associates who do build the models and format the pitchbooks to get congratulatory emails saying “We know you made this deal possible for us.” (It does happen sometimes; some people are just polite.) Because everyone knows they didn’t. The pitchbook formatting isn’t what wins the deal. The relationship is what wins the deal. If Referral Hire A had formatted pitchbooks perfectly but had the wrong mother, her contributions to winning the deal would have been marginal. Instead she left the formatting to others and did the really valuable work of having been born to a powerful executive of a state-owned enterprise that needed a lot of investment banking work.
The SEC fined Credit Suisse $77 million for, essentially, bribery

So we are going to head into the mid terms running on "Abolish Ice & Immigrant Rights" vs "America First and Jobs Jobs Jobs".

How did democrats manage to shift the focus from the Russia investigation/corruption to the one of the few issues (illegal immigration), that Trump is actual popular on?

The reason the focus shifted from Russia to substantive issues is because that's what the Left wanted. I have no opinion on the wisdom of that, though I have heard advice from people with experience beating authoritarians that that's a good idea.

What if everyone voted for women only?

Right always sets the narrative--they just scream it over and over true or not and the left gets instantly defensive. Doesn't help the media immediately gives it to them. Counter attack is the better play, healthcare, etc etc. Abolish ICE isn't, america just isn't there. Too many people want the browns out of the country.
07-06-2018 , 06:15 PM
Dems moved because they saw that people were souring on Russia and simply didn't have faith in anything coming of it.

People care about things that directly affect their lives. Truth is that Mueller doesn't have a concrete effect on people's lives. The economy does. Health care and taxes do. The potential of banning abortion will turn out women. Running on ways Trump ****s over the minorities, middle and lower-income classes to satisfy the 1% will be more convincing.

With so many people disapproving of GOP policies, turning out the Dems who stayed home will be enough. No need to move right.
07-06-2018 , 06:19 PM
The dems need to focus on trump attacking harley davidson. It cant be mentioned often enough.
07-06-2018 , 06:26 PM
When is it tactically appropriate to mention that we've taken thousands of children away and put many of them in concentration camps?

Pretty good thread:

Note this was a $1500 event, not main event and white guy won pot. I don't know how significant 5 rounds is, but I lean toward something short of forfeit and also letting everybody know what he did. Let Shaun King go to work on him.

Edit: So what the guy actually said is disputed and may have worse. He was dq'd.

We're way past the point of strategy mattering. Ain't nobody changing their mind about a god damn thing between now and November, it's just gonna be a question of turnout and WIM.
07-06-2018 , 06:42 PM
As always context is important. Is it a socially awkward white guy trying to be funny and failing miserably or a racist **** trying trying to get under his skin?

Awkward white guy could be forgiven with a warning, maybe a 1-5 round penalty, and a talking to.

Racist **** trying to get under skin probably forfeit + lifetime ban.

There, you've now seen every episode of Bar Rescue.
They've also ruined every freaking good dive bar within 30 miles of Hollywood - which are all now overpriced pretentious mixology douche magnets.

They even turned the one good BBQ joint in the Valley, which was half bar and half normal BBQ restaurant - into one big over-decorated bar called the BBQ Bar, and the BBQ is now terrible.

Stim, I edited my post. Guy was dq'd. Some people claim he actually said "Shut up, n-." Can't claim he was joking if true, so dq is appropriate.
