but so what? Airlines do care about how long it takes to get a plane boarded, but only up to a point. Airplane utilization is a big deal but for most domestic aircraft there is a huge dead period that can't be realistically used (i.e. most domestic aircraft spend the night parked somewhere) so there's a limit to how many segments a plane can fly in a day. Shaving five minutes off of boarding isn't going to provide enough extra time to squeeze one more segment in.
Most airlines care a lot more about keeping elites happy, which is why they board using "illogical" systems.
