Netflix has made some pretty solid shows over the years and they pump a ton of money into some of them. They aren't as good as HBO yet but I chalk that up to experience.

Why the hate on netflix shows?

Because for every good Netflix original there are 9 that are mediocre at best.
That is the exact opposite of the HBO brand.

I knew a guy who used to post here, well I knew him from high school and got him into poker and he used to post here. He used to eat 1 large Papa Johns EVERY SINGLE DAY. You'd go to his house and there would be 50 Papa Johns pizza boxes all over his house.

He went on to become a Trump supporter. Don't talk to him anymore. Honestly he might be one of these random trolls that come in from time to time because his main got banned a long time ago.

Netflix just has TOO MUCH original content now, shows are cannibalizing each other

Nailed It is great, though.

I mean they have an insanely huge viewer base, seems natural they'd have a massive amount of original content that all the people can enjoy?

HBO is targeted towards American Adults. Netflix viewer base is basically everyone in the world and some animals.

I didn't even mean their original shows, I probably should have said "lame content" because I was mostly thinking of all their movies no one's ever heard of you have to scroll through to find something watchable.

Maybe she really is this dumb and didn't realize where they were headed.
She was almost certainly flying out of IAD (no direct flights to AK from DCA, I'm guessing UA flies IAD-ANC but I'm not positive), and I'm assuming they dropped her at DCA. There are a bajillion places they could have met that are roughly the same distance from those. And most people who get a car service are probably on their phones the whole way to the airport.

I might not notice if someone was driving me to the wrong airport but I'd definitely notice before I got out of the car, but I'm a super frequent flyer and airport nerd. Someone who doesn't go to DC very often could easily not notice.

My suggestion to Netflix is: Only have things that were added remotely recently in the "Recently Added" category.

My suggestion to Netflix: stop making ****ty, indistinguishable Sci-fi ****.

BoJack Horseman, season five, drops in about two months. If you have Netflix and haven't checked it out I would highly recommend it.

After Cohen dressed up as a disabled U.S. veteran with a fake wheelchair to punk Sarah Palin, former GOP congressman Joe Walsh shared his own strange encounter with the comedian. In summary, he’s not happy. The radio show host is now calling for a boycott of Showtime, after Cohen’s team tricked him into doing an interview for a fake pro-Israel event, as Deadline points out. They allegedly told Walsh he would be receiving an award for “Significant Contributions to the State of Israel.”

Browsing netflix hoping to stumble across a good movie/show is a lolold move.

You browse netflix threads for suggestions obv. A million sites out there that will filter out the good from the bad for you. Filtering through trash is legit everything on the internet and its a skill you should have by now.

Right wingers providing the best possible publicity for this show is both unsurprising and fantastic

The Sci-Fi channel already did this back in 2000. It was... not as terrible as you might expect.

Yeah, it was way better than the movie version.

idk if we have a general mass surveillance thread or something for this to go into but:

Company that owns 46 California malls automatically scans consumers' license plates and sells the data to ICE

Quote:
A company that operates 46 shopping centers up and down California has been providing sensitive information collected by automated license plate readers (ALPRs) to Vigilant Solutions, a surveillance technology vendor that in turn sells location data to Immigrations & Customs Enforcement.

The Irvine Company—a real estate company that operates malls and mini-malls in Irvine, La Jolla, Newport Beach, Redwood City, San Jose, Santa Clara and Sunnyvale—has been conducting the ALPR surveillance since just before Christmas 2016, according to an ALPR Usage and Privacy Policy published on its website (archived version). The policy does not say which of its shopping centers use the technology, only disclosing that the company and its contractors operates ALPRs at “one or more” of its locations.
Quote:
In December 2017, ICE signed a contract with Vigilant Solutions to access its license-plate reader database. Data from Irvine Company’s malls directly feeds into Vigilant Solutions’ database system, according to the policy. This could mean that ICE can spy on mall visitors without their knowledge and receive near-real-time alerts when a targeted vehicle is spotted in a shopping center’s parking lot.
This seems like it should be a target for local/state activism and legislation. Holding signs outside their locations saying "this mall spies on immigrants" would probably do some work.

Another example of why privacy is important and not caring about it is a privilege.

I don't think I have shopped at any of those places, and I am not about to start.

If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear.

Yeah that one was OK. I feel like there's enough lore to make it a full on series though.
