Asked if Kelly would be leaving the White House, the president said, "That I don't know. I like John a lot. I like him and I respect him."

White House budget director Mick Mulvaney and Vice President Mike Pence's chief of staff, Nick Ayers, have reportedly been considered as possible replacements for Kelly, according to two people with knowledge of Trump's thinking.

Kelly has played down the rumors, but quipped he'd be happy if he made it to the one-year mark in the position, which would happen July 31.

The chief ethics officer of the Environmental Protection Agency — the official whose main job is to help agency staffers obey government ethics laws — has been working behind the scenes to push for a series of independent investigations into possible improprieties by Scott Pruitt, the agency’s administrator, a letter sent this week says.

The letter is the first public acknowledgment that Kevin S. Minoli, who has frequently defended Mr. Pruitt’s actions since he took over the agency in February 2017, is now openly questioning whether Mr. Pruitt violated federal ethics rules.

...

Mr. Pruitt is facing 13 federal inquiries into his spending and management practices as E.P.A. administrator, including the condo arrangement and the use of staff members for personal errands, as well as his first-class travel expenses and the installation of a $43,000 soundproof phone booth in his office.

I don't really understand what you're saying here. He outlines some policies about development he's in favor of, but since they're not currently nor have they ever been the policies in put place by city/state government, it's difficult to trace current problems back to "policies he supports". Example, repeal 421-a (tax break to developers) and use proceeds to subsidize/build affordable housing:

Quote:
The 421-a tax break is an anachronistic tool left over from the Seventies, when both landlords and the middle class were abandoning the city in droves. Nothing could be further from the case today, and the recent evidence is abundant that continuing to use it is a counterproductive strategy, one that is subsidizing the wealthy while diminishing the amount of affordable housing available.
Quote:
Some practical reforms might start with ending 421-a and other subsidies for wealthy developers, thereby bringing the city tens of billions of additional tax dollars over the next few years and eliminating a major incentive for those who would build primarily for the rich. With that money, or at least some percentage of it, New York City could then build its own affordable housing—affordable for actual working-class people—without worrying about support from the federal government or 80 percent of the apartments going to more of the rich, absent or otherwise. And, as Greenberg suggests, an additional, dedicated half cent in sales tax, say—akin to how Los Angeles taxed itself recently to expand its mass transit system—could provide a permanent funding source to build and rehabilitate housing.

When it comes to the retailers, others have dared to suggest reinstituting commercial rent control. David Dinkins even made that idea part of his winning mayoral platform back in 1989, though—as happens with so many winning Democratic Party campaign promises—once he was elected, Dinkins quickly made it clear that he had no intention of seriously pursuing any such popular measure.
These are the "anti-development policies...to blame for the problems he's complaining about"?

But it is because of funding, and Cuomo opposing a millionaires tax (a bizarre position for a liberal in a solid blue state, though we all know Cuomo is a pretty fake liberal) is an example of why NY suffers from funding issues.

Now maybe that deal was corrupt and bad, but he’s upset that they’re building literally anything anywhere.
This is a much better argument imo.

My write-in is, again, nobody.

At this point Pruitt is the Black Knight.

Seems like Kelly will be donezo by end of July. It’s funny I barely remember Priebus as CoS and now the tea leaves are reading for Kelly

Trump saluting a North Korean official. Bet if a total random dressed in military fatigues, Trump would salute him/her.

NK general goes for the handshake, Trump salutes, Kim is all like "WTF?" guy in the background is loling on the inside and barely containing himself, other background guy is completely flabbergasted.

Choices were Taco bell, Moes, Chipotle, qdoba, baja fresh, or del taco. Americans may be right on this one.

I've never been to Moes, but Taco Bell comes in last out of the rest of them. And I don't hate Taco Bell or anything - I can eat lunch for $2-$3!

Lol I'm in Houston now. Basically Arizona with humidity. But they do have plenty of good Mexican food here. So that's BS.

Being away from the US for a while makes a few things really stand out:

The international departure area of the airport in Guatemala City had to be at least 70% nerdy Bible thumpers of all ages - down there proselytizing or something.

Flipping radio channels in the low FM #s I heard about campus (something) leading to socialized medicine and no one bats an eye. IMAGINE. Never ****ing mind that Medicare is socialized medicine. No need to discuss that. Socialized medicine = bad. This is known.

Flipping channels in Houston I landed on TBN. Guys you may not know this but the lords prayer says "His will be done on earth as it is in heaven". That means he expects his will to be done down here as well the by and by. Do you think the lord wants to see 1.3 million babies murdered in the womb? Do you think (here's where I flipped, but then get sucked back to hear him finish the thought) ... Do you think the Lord wants the scourge of Islamic Terrorism to take over? This isn't about Republican vs. Democrat. This is about good vs. evil. Standing ovation of course. WAAF

But hey at least those people will die. Oh there's a couple kids next to me at Starbucks doing Bible Study and trying to comprehend some kinds of advanced concepts. Dude is "well actually" mansplaining the **** out of it to her.

Edit: Christian couple just got real cuddly then left. Dude might have a grubby semi-resisted fingerbang in his immediate future. Over the panties of course. She won't be touching his though because Jesus would cry. He can dry hump her leg - Jesus is ok with that.

I was the only one watching the World Cup at a brew pub in Humble. A bunch of people were watching some NFL replay of a Redskins/Cardinals game. I ordered a turkey club sandwich with a side salad instead of fries, and a Diet Coke. It would have been more or less justified to kick my ass. Oh yeah, here's my rental Outback in the parking lot.

Oh well, at least I got my badass classic rock back and no more of that Ed Sheeran crap.

I had a dream last night that I was trying to explain to someone why mediocre plagiarist Ed Sheeran isn't the new Van Morrison.
07-01-2018 , 01:56 PM
First you need to have a dream where you explain who Van Morrison is.

Notorious French prisoner makes daring escape on helicopter carrying commandos
A notorious French criminal serving 25 years for murder made an audacious escape from prison Sunday after a helicopter carrying several heavily armed commandos landed in a courtyard, freed him from a visiting room and carried him away. It was the second daring escape by Redoine Faid, who once blasted his way out of a different prison with explosives hidden in tissue packs.
I'm sure this guy is a horrible person who I shouldn't root for in any way, but that's still pretty badass.

How are those spikes even freaking legal? Seems like it'd be a massive hazard.
