The ability for middle aged guys to get away with completely generic, nondescript clothing isn't appreciated by younger folk. I can go damn near anywhere in cheap jeans and a polo shirt and nobody gives even the slightest ****. It's freakin' awesome.

the same rule applies for that outfit just the amount is lower. jeans and polo shirt looks good and obviously the important thing is fit. but if you buy your jeans for less than $20 youve reached a threshold where youre actually losing money because the quality is bad.

Yea I agree with this. I have jeans that I’ve paid $150-200 for and the last me at least 2-3 years
01-04-2018 , 11:28 PM
I would be upset if the $30 pair of jeans I bought didn’t last me 5 years.

Polo shirt? I didn't picture you as such a dandy.

You're not getting it. I'm a 40-something dude in boring clothes. Nobody cares about fit. Nobody notices me. I blend in with the scenery as some completely unremarkable thing that doesn't need to be paid attention to. And it's absolutely wonderful.

Besides, I'm a contractor. All my jeans are stained and have holes in the knees within 6 months. Spending more won't change that.

I haven't had Chik Fil A since their Prop 8 Nonsense (has it been since 2008?). They made nice with the gay community here in LA, but I'm not gay so I'm still allowed to boycott.

That resolve is being tested, as they're opening a new one 1/4 mile from my house, on the way to work

im not going to argue with you on this. most days i don't dress up and i have clothes that i use for work at grocery store and the do get worn through faster than if i was at a desk job because we load unload trucks, clean up milk spills, stock tons of boxes etc. some days i dont even brush my hair to be honest. and sometimes i go to bars with khakis for work on just to drink.

but i dont try to look boring or blend in if im having fun or going to an important event.

for most things jeans and polo is fine so..

Edit: im talking about being an alcoholic, i wouldnt wear khakis or not brush my hair if I was spending a weekend barhopping with friends. I drink EVERY day so..

how and why did it get on newsweek?

Like a beer after work every day, or drink until you pass out then wake up and drink the half beer with the cigarette butt in it like in Bad Santa?

The over-friendliness of the staff at Chik Fil A is disturbing and forced. Contrast with In-n-Out where the very friendly staff actually seems to be having a reasonably good time. My impression anyway.

on a random tuesday maybe 3-4 beers after work if im going with beer or like half a fifth of vodka/whisky. I havent drank just one beer in a day in a long long time. out of 365 days though, i can stop if i have something super imorptant to do temporarily so about 3-4% of they days out of a year i don't drink at all.

That seems like a huge generalization. Like Starbucks being overfriendly. When it differs from locales. The Starbucks in the burbs I lived had the fake friendly going on, and the Starbucks on campus was pretty much all business with general pleasantries.

I dont even like it when your at a fast food /casual place and someone comes over and is like how is those fries treating you? like look i paid 2 dollars for fries and im eating them because im hungry and poor and now i feel fat. i dont really want to have a conversation about it.
of course, i alwasy some some variation of "good, thank you"

I said it was my impression. It's also my impression that you're just being argumentative. Have you even been to In-n-Out?

If Bernie didn't sell that gift and put the money in a scholarship fund he's a first class hypocrite.

Also I didn't get to try chic fil a before the prop 8 thing so I was boycotting, but a coworker bought me a biscuit breakfast sandwich from there once a few years ago. It was as dense as a black hole and the fact that it tasted as good as it did still haunts me.

Word. Might want to switch your drug of choice to something easier on the plumbing, like say WEEEEEED :-p

I've got a $20 pea coat that I love and wear all the time and I've got more than one compliment about it.

You were the one trying to dismiss a big part of Dukakis history. You don't get to accuse me of being argumentative, mister. All I'm saying is you're generalizing an entire chain where it's obv from locale to locale results will vary.

Point is that places with the equivalent of mandatory pieces of flair and have no respect for their employees are ****ty places and I give a **** if I buy stuff from ****ty places.
