I think GISS usually has the monthly data out in about 10 or 15 days. It can sometimes change slightly when more data for that month gets reported.
But AFAIK, the satellite stuff doesn't come out until the next month either, so I'm wondering where you're getting the fact that Jan. is cold. I know some people look at the unadjusted satellite channels, but that can be misleading.

There is no evidence that there will be major changes to salinity or currents due to AGW. And being "at the mercy of the oceans" is pretty much nonsense. AGW is serious enough without the fear-mongering, which just turns people off and isn't usually scientifically accurate anyway.
