Texas Mayor Leads The Truther Charge Over Ahmed Mohamed's Clock

Obviously the kid is smart for not providing information to the police.

Needless to say the blind squirrels at chiefsplanet are all over this one. It does appear more likely than not to me that the kid took the clock to school with some intention to provoke something. I could be wrong, and it still makes the school idiots - but it does change things. Probably no way to ever prove so I guess the kid gets the benefit of the doubt.

suzzer,

here's someone trying to provoke and getting caught for it, red handed

take heart media, at least The Blaze wasn't outsmarted by a 13 year old with photoshop

How are you coming to that conclusion?

Absolutely. He would be very unwise to speak to the police except through his lawyer. Anything he says might be twisted against him and it's not like they can be relied upon not to try to trick him into saying something that be easily be twisted.

It's possible he gets some good cops but not worth the risk.

lol. This is really a chilling window into the thought process of the low-info voter. "After listening to a bunch of racist morons, I've become convinced that this brown person is up to something that cannot be articulated and makes no sense. They got away with it this time, and this changes absolutely nothing about the situation...but this changes things."

A clock is like the absolutely most obvious project when you're playing around with those electronics project boards. And, guilty of nerd profiling yeah, but that kid looked like a lock to have an electronics project.

Exhibit A why it's so hard to have a rational discussion that goes against groupthink around here. This kind of attack is completely uncalled for. Next time I'll probably just keep my mouth shut. Now I'm going to have the battle like 50 ppl at once and endure countless more attacks like this I'm sure.

Spare me the condescending bull****. I guarantee you I know a ton more than you about the facts on this one. The MSM gets it wrong sometimes too, and just because right-wing media is all over something doesn't make it false by definition.

I'll post some when I'm not on my phone. Unfortunately my work bans 2p2 now, so it's gonna have to wait until I get home.

Who's being condescending? Low Key?

Think he meant bobman.

Suzzer what's with this new thing where you complain about people being mean to you for your posts so you'll just not say anything?

I don't remember that being a trait in your posts but it's the second time in like a week you've made a similar remark.

But yea, saying this kid was up to no good with nothing to back it up is likely a line of thought that will get you mocked around here.

Refresh the thread.

To support my fellow show me stater there is an argument that the clock boy is not a hobbyist. It appears he took the parts out of an old radio shack clock and put it in a box.

Got it. Just so my post doesn't look as stupid: Suzzer edited in the quote.

Still, how does it look like a bomb?

Is someone claiming he was telling other kids he made a bomb or something like that?

I just said it seemed more likely than not. Do you really think I'm basing that on racist banter on CP? Because you know those guys just resonate with me? OR would the more likely scenario be that I was swayed by enough facts they posted (I need to verify all their links though) that it's started to seem possible and then more likely than not (which still leaves a lot of room that I'm wrong) that the kid intended to provoke some kind of reaction?

I'll have to post the links tonight. It's gonna be so fun being callec a racist low-info ******* by everyone. 100% I should have just kept my opinion to myself.

I'm guessing the theory is someone in his family put him up to it knowing he'd get caught up and there'd be a big stink and they'd get paid. That's the usual theory for these things. Heck, people even said Freddie Gray bashed his own head in for a payout.

I have not followed this story closely. I did not know if it was understood that the kids story of inventing a clock is suspect.

Without seeing the links it's hard to say what swayed you. But we do know you have a family history of going down the rabbit hole from all the aunt stories :P

So is the conspiracy theory that the father put the kid up to it? Seems really far fetched. Could he have possibly predicted all of this and think he could get away with it, and btw would someone really do something that ****ed up to their kid? It just seems like all the other possibilities are more probable than this this one. How is this not moon landing territory?

Oh, it looks enough like a bomb for a school or anyone not trained in that dept to raise eyebrows and ask questions. Still, it just seems like the overwhelming evidence points to a huge misunderstanding mixed with a lot of politics and a dash of islamaphobia. Unless there's something I'm missing.

If I'd been into electronics as a kid, 100% chance I'd have built something that looks like the countdown timer on a bomb in the movies. I always thought those were cool. Decent chance I'd have been stupid enough to take it to school. If confronted, I'd definitely have said "It's just a clock. See? No explosives. Just a clock. Does Barry Manilow know you raid his wardrobe?"
