Awesome! You should ask them if they have consistent opinions on <insert latest deplorable fired for being deplorable>
They do. Damore is a slippery slope against free speech. What's your point?
Also ESPN should fire Jamelle Hill. She called Trump a racist. Some things are just out of bounds. You never saw anyone in the media calling Obama racist once during his tenure or you can bet there would be hell to pay.
I'm not sure how long you have to live in LA to know where La Palma is, but 17 years is not enough apparently.
My wife has lived in the South Bay for about 40 years and she didn't know. I've had two different jobs where I had to drive all over the place. There are 88 cities in Los Angeles County and 34 in Orange County and I probably know where almost all of them are and most of the cities in San Bernardino and Riverside County too.
15 years, here, so I don't feel bad for having no clue
It's like the first episode of the OC - when all the Newport Beach kids are making fun of the kid from Chino - like there's some right/wrong side of the tracks rivalry. I'm like - where's Chino? So I look at it on a map. It's nowhere near Newport Beach. Those kids would never have even heard of Chino.
At least Karate Kid gets it right that Encino kids would know where Reseda is. But still it's like "I don't want you seeing that boy from <neighboring town that makes 10% less household income>".
So now we know how to deal with Trumpkins. You anesthetize them and then re-educate them during a lengthy Hospital stay while they are heavily drugged.

The funny part is when someone says "I live in Walnut". Oh, where's that? "It's up by Diamond Bar." Hmmm, still no clue.
(I do know where Diamond Bar is now - but only because of this convo with a coworker years ago)

Just got TNC's new book (collection of eight of his Atlantic articles during the Obama years, with some new commentary) and the introduction is so good:
Quote:
The problem was not that South Carolina's Reconstruction-era government had been consumed by unprecedented graft. Indeed, it was the exact opposite. The very success Miller [black congressman in SC in 1890s] highlighted, the actual record of Reconstruction in South Carolina, undermined white supremacy. To redeem white supremacy, that record was twisted, mocked, and caricatured into something that better resembled the prejudices of white South Carolina. "If there was one thing that South Carolina feared more than bad Negro government," wrote [W.E.B.] Du Bois, "it was good Negro government."
Quote:
In terms of Good Negro Government, Barack Obama was the best of us. And when he left office, a majority of the opposition party did not believe he was a citizen.
Now that Tom Petty is for sure gone, I'd like to say I played the **** out of some Heartbreakers on vinyl way back when. Insider was good for wallowing in relationship bitterness, but maybe something a little more upbeat would be a better tribute. So long, Tom.

Was pleasantly surprised chasing youtube links last night, by the number of Petty/HB songs I had forgotten about and genuinely enjoyed.
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was on the verge of resigning this past summer amid mounting policy disputes and clashes with the White House, according to multiple senior administration officials who were aware of the situation at the time.
The tensions came to a head around the time President Donald Trump delivered a politicized speech in late July to the Boy Scouts of America, an organization Tillerson once led, the officials said.
Just days earlier, Tillerson had openly disparaged the president, referring to him as a “moron,” after a July 20 meeting at the Pentagon with members of Trump’s national security team and Cabinet officials, according to three officials familiar with the incident.
Where is Tillerson in the line of succession and how do we make him President? I'm not saying he's objectively a good candidate but he's gotta be better than the 3 people ahead of him -- which I think is Pence, Ryan, Orrin Hatch. Not a high bar to reach, I know.

As incompetent as the executive office is, I assume they have their **** together enough to make sure that these four are never in the same room together at the same time.
I'm a alt-rock fan, from Velvet Underground through punk, REM to Arcade Fire and Animal Collective and such and have always considered Tom Petty legit. There's a good 4 or 6 hour documentary about him and the band.
One noteworthy thing, among others, is that he actually sued his record company over their (standard) total BS contact. He wouldn't back down.
