Push for Gender Equality in Tech? Some Men Say It’s Gone Too Far
It's a great example of a couple NYTisms, primarily the thing where they bend over backwards to appear objective in their reporting to the point where they're quoting Paul ****ing Elam (if you don't know that name, congrats, you are undoubtedly happier in life for having never had to read a sputnik thread about feminism) without noting what an utter moron he is, and presenting the two sides of the "debate" of "are women utterly destroying technology?" in a "you decide!" kind of way.
But also, and this is so good, the NYTism of utterly savaging people by simply printing the words they say:
Quote:
Two men who worked at Yahoo sued the company for gender discrimination last year. Their lawyer, Jon Parsons, said the female leadership — Yahoo’s chief executive was Marissa Mayer, before Verizon bought the company — had gone too far in trying to hire and promote women. He tied the suit into today’s women-in-tech movement.
...
“No eyebrows are going to rise if a woman heads up fashion,” Mr. Parsons said. “But we’re talking about women staffing positions — things like autos — where it cannot be explained other than manipulation.”
LOL
