Awesome touch that the Air Force guy (a paramedic) who nearly had his thumb cut off went to help a wounded passenger after the gunman was subdued.

The current story, this is his defense/statement according to his lawyer, is that he's a homeless guy who found a bag of weapons and just wanted to rob a few people on the train so he could eat. He just brought the guns so he could shoot a window and jump through it so he could escape after robbing them. I cant imagine what being that lawyer feels like. Im extremely happy that Spencer guy survived, seems like quite the ride.

In WW1, the French suffered more military deaths in 4 years than the US has in its entire history, and inflicted great losses on Germans holding the Western front. I fully expect a counseling when they get back for not being clean shaven while on leave. What a disgrace. They are in front of the whole world and they have beards.

Yeah, the French coward jokes have always been a black eye highlighting American ignorance of how many millions of French died in the world wars, especially when compared to American casualties.

Oh yeah. Easily the most realistic depiction of how absurd military life is. Driving around with no maps, dealing with a captain who is literally crazy, chugging RipIts, useless senior NCOs, and everybody complaining about everything. That's exactly what it's like.

They gave these guys the Legion of Honor (French equivalent of the Medal of Honor). Since it's a big deal, the men from France wore their fancy pants (and presumably danced). And our boys wore their finest golf shirts. I wouldn't have it any other way.
