She was justifiably upset by the police officers' actions. Maybe she came across accusatory and tried to blame him for the SMPD's overreaction.

And why an apology? He thought he saw someone breaking into her apartment and called the cops. How did he "put her through the ordeal"?
She lives there and is pretty displeased that he called the cops on her. Apologizing for the inconvenience of being treated like a dangerous criminal in your own home wouldn't be a such a stretch. He could have explained he thought he was doing the right thing, but was seriously mistaken.

Wrt putting her through an ordeal, her article makes it seem like it was a scary, stressful event for her.

No, but I'd imagine she wasn't pleased with him. Some mea culpas would have been more polite than gfy though. Gfy sounds like he doesn't gaf about her, and if he doesn't gaf about her, it's ironic that he'd call police to protect her and/or her property.

Hey at least she didn't get arrested for breaking into her own home like that Harvard professor did a few years ago. Progress!

He called the cops on the locksmith.
"Hey, I'm sorry I called the cops when I saw someone I didn't recognize apparently breaking into your apartment. I promise I won't do that again."

He didn't put her through the ordeal, the cops did. 19 cops including a K9 unit for a burglary?

So, if her first salvo was something approaching the discourse in this Forum, he is supposed to retain his cool? Did she call him a racist? Did she threaten to sue?

And again, "mea culpa"? For calling the police to protect her and/or her property? For living in a city with an out of control police department?

Well Angus, maybe you and I would just react to her differently. Me? I call the cops on a homeowner (or homeowner's locksmith) thinking they're a burglar, when I find out the truth I'm apologizing on general principle. Just seems like the right thing to do. He sounds like he treated her with contempt.

He didn't get arrested for breaking into his own home, he was arrested for disorderly conduct based on his actions. The Cambridge Police were generous in asking the prosecutor to drop the charges, because they were quite legit.

Shocking hornbug thinks the minority should be thrown in jail.

Shocking LetsGambool thinks the minority should get a free pass for any crime committed.

Please explain what this obvious disorderly conduct was by the man sitting in his own home again hornbug?

Was this another issue of "black supremacy" that you have previously identified as a problem?

Disorderly conduct for refusing to leave his own home lolz. This place is crawling with racists and bigots lately.

He was arrested after it was confirmed he was in his own home and had a right to be there.

I love how you guys just make up facts as you go along.

Not surprised since I see it in the discussion of every incident in these threads.

Yes, exactly. You identified the problem. Pretty good work for a racist.

Imagine what it takes to be arrested in your home when everyone there knows it is your home. Privately Mr. Gates must be embarrassed by what he did that day.

You going to elaborate on the "quite legit" charges given you are imagining what happened that day?

Pretty sure the cop got him to step outside his residence. Doubt anyone would have considered him disorderly in his own home. There was at least a question when he allegedly started yelling outside his home. But everyone got free beer so all is good.

I'll let you do your own research.

Besides, I'm more interested in the question:

Was Jamar handcuffed?

Hornbug probably all aboard the don't tread on me/small government train though with Clive Bundy.

Just massive lol hornbug as always. Not too many straight up KKK type racists still posting in alpha, the last of a dying breed.

Does the question of whether it was right or wrong to shoot Jamar in the head hinge on whether or not he was handcuffed?

It's instructive as to whether he was reaching for his front or rear waistband weapon.

Chicago officer to be charged with murder, as they prepare to release video of Laquan McDonald shooting from last year

I'm not sure if I'm reading this the wrong way but it sounds an awful lot like the only reason he's getting charged is because the judge compelled them to release the video - why else would he only be getting charged a year later????

Quote:
As this city prepared to make public a video from the fatal shooting of a black 17-year-old by a white Chicago police officer, a state prosecutor charged the officer with first-degree murder on Tuesday.

The charges against Officer Jason Van Dyke come more than a year after the shooting, but only days after a judge ordered Chicago officials to release the video from the shooting, captured by a dashboard camera in a police car. The judge had ruled that the video, described by some who have seen it as graphic and deeply disturbing, must be released by Wednesday.
